Spray tip selection
Selecting the tip size
Spray tips are supplied in different sizes to apply a host of
materials. The spray device includes a tip suitable for the
majority of spraying applications. Please refer to the tip
table in Spray response for selection of the correct tip.
NOTE:
Exclusively use tips from the tip range that was supplied
with the spray device to guarantee that the spray device is
operating correctly.
NOTES:
• The tip wears out and enlarges during spraying. If you
start with a smaller sized tip than the maximum size, you
can spray within the stated throughput capacity of the
spray device.
• Use larger tip openings for thicker coatings and smaller
tip openings for thinner coatings.
• Tips wear out during application and they must be repla-
ced from time to time.
• The tip opening size determines the throughput rate, i.e.
the material quantity that is output from the gun.
Spray pattern width
The spray pattern width is the size of the spray pattern
that determines the coated area after having moved the
spray gun.
NOTES:
• Select a spray pattern width that is most suitable for the
surface you are applying the paint to.
• Larger spray pattern widths guarantee improved covera-
ge on wide, open surfaces.
• Smaller spray pattern widths guarantee improved control
on small, restricted surfaces.
Tip number description
The last three digits of the part number (i.e. xx x 412)
feature information on the opening size and spray pattern
width on the surface if the gun is held at a distance of 25
- 30 cm from the coating surface.
Original instruction
Multiply the first digit by 5 = approximate spray pattern
width in cm.
Last two digits = size of the tip opening in thousands of
an inch.
Cleaning Fluid Compatibility
Water-Based Materials
• When spraying water-based materials, flush the system
thoroughly with water.
• To spray water-based materials, flush the system tho-
roughly with water first. The water flowing out of tip
should be clear and clean before you begin spraying the
water-based material.
• To avoid fluid splashing back on your skin or into your
eyes, always aim gun at inside wall of pail.
