Assembly of Auxiliary Handle and Depth Limiter
The auxiliary handle can be attached on either the left or the right side of the drill
housing depending on whether you are left or right handed, or to suit drilling
requirements. If you wish to use the depth limiter in conjunction with the auxiliary
handle, please insert it into the opening above the handgrip before installation of the
auxiliary handle. Mount the auxiliary handle onto the flange located on the front of the
drill housing around the drive spindle. Fasten the handgrip with its wing nut. You can
store Drills and small parts in the auxiliary handle if you wish to do so.
Tool Insertion
Open the drill chuck to insert the tool. Take special care when inserting tools with a
small shaft diameter; make sure the drill chuck jaws are opened only slightly more than
the shaft diameter requires. In this way you ensure that the tool bit is centred between
the three jaws of the drill chuck. After insertion of the tool, first tighten the chuck
manually. Then use the drill-chuck key provided with the drill to tighten the drill chuck
evenly onto the tool, tighten the chuck at of each of the three holes. Screwdriver bits
should always be inserted into a bit holder.
Operation
Make sure that there are no electrical wires, gas or water pipes in the location you wish
to drill. If in doubt, use searching devices to locate any wires or pipes. Devices suitable
for searching for wires and pipes are available from the Westfalia Tool Company.
Switching the Drill On/Off
