1.1
General Information
In order to ensure safety and correct operation and for your own safety, please read and observe the following instruc-
tionscarefully before proceeding. Relevant national standards, safety regulations and provisions as well as the technical
connection conditions of the energy supply company must be observed and applied.
Keep the installation and operating instructions with the unit for reference. The document must behanded to the op-
erator (tenant/owner) after final assembly.
m
With regard to all work on the ventilation unit, the generally applicable safety at work and accident preven-
tion regulations must be observed!!
1.2 Warning and safety instructions
The adjacent symbol is a safety-relevant prominent warning label. All safety regulations and/or symbols must
be absolutely adhered to, so that any dangerous situation is avoided:
m
DANGER
Indicates dangers which will directly result in death or serious injury if the safety instruction is not followed.
m
WARNING
Indicates dangers which will result in death or serious injury if the safety instruction is not followed.
m
CAUTION
Indicates dangers which can result in injuries if the safety instruction is not followed.
ATTENTION
Indicates dangers which can result in material damage if the safety instruction is not followed.
1.3 Warranty claims – Exclusion of liability
If the preceding instructions are not observed, all warranty claims shall be excluded. This also applies for liability claims
against the manufacturer. The use of accessories, which are not recommended or offered by Helios, is not permitted.
Any possible damages are not covered by the warranty. Changes and modifications to the product are not permitted
and lead to a loss of conformity, and any warranty and liability shall be excluded in this case.
1.4 Regulations - Guidelines
If the unit is installed correctly and used to its intended purpose, it conforms to all applicable regulations and CE guide-
lines at its date of manufacture.
Special regulations apply for use, connection and operation; consultation is required in case of doubt. Further infor-
mation can be found in the relevant standards and legal texts.
1.5 Storage
When storing for a prolonged time, the following steps are to be taken to avoid damaging influences:
Protection by dry, airtight and dust-proof packaging (plastic bag with desiccant and humidity indicators). The storage
place must be waterproof, vibration-free and free of temperature variations (ambient temperature limit: min. 0 °C /max.
+40 °C). Damages due to improper transportation, storage or commissioning must be verified and are not liable for
warranty.
1.6 Area of application – Intended use
The ÜV 160 and ÜV 200 overflow valves are installed in properties with smoke protection pressure systems in the walls
between the stairway and the airlock/anteroom/necessary corridor (escape routes). The overflow valves form a venti-
lation connection between the rooms and thus realise a pressure equalisation that prevents excessive door opening
forces and supports the closing of self-closing doors.
The overflow valves (versions with in-duct fire dampers BAK) prevent the spread of fire and smoke for at least 90 min-
utes based on standard fire exposure (DIN 4102-2).
The spread of cold smoke below the reaction temperature (+72°C) of the thermal release mechanism (fusible link) is
not prevented. In this case, the overflow valves must additionally be provided with a cold smoke shutter with magnetic
closure KAK (versions 160 K, 160 KB bzw. 200 K, 200 KB with in-duct fire damper BAK and/or cold smoke shutter
with magnetic closure KAK).
Overflow valves without cold smoke shutters with magnetic closure KAK may only be installed in places where there
are no concerns in this regard according to building regulations.
The competent building supervisory authority shall decide on the permissibility of the application in each use
case.
The permissible temperature range is 0°C to +40°C.
Intended use also includes compliance with the operating instructions and the manufacturer's instructions for the indi-
vidual components as well as the inspection and maintenance intervals specified by HELIOS.
Any use other than the intended use is prohibited!
