Operating malfunctions and how to remedy them
Pnt
Malfunction
1
Hydraulic unit fails
to start.
2
Hydraulic unit
starts to run but
the hydraulic
cylinder piston
does not slide out
or slides out only
partially (press
ring does not
close completely).
If these measures do not produce the desired result, the entire HCPS will have to be inspected
and may need to be repaired by a Novopress specialized workshop.

Causes
• Mains voltage not present.
• Mains plug not connected.
• Emergency Off button
depressed.
• Control cabling plug device
is not connected.
• Press tool is not placed
correctly against the press
ring.
• Connection is faulty.
• The control cabling between
the hydraulic unit and the
hydraulic cylinder is faulty.
• Max. pressure has not been
reached. The Pmax light is
on.
• Hydraulic piping is not
connected.
• Oil level is too low.
• Switch lever E and/or push-
button H is/are operated too
soon (press tool not yet
activated).
• Hydraulic piping leaks.
• Press ring or guides of the
hydraulic cylinder is/are
contaminated.
Remedy
• Check supply mains.
• Connect mains plug.
• Release Emergency Off button.
• Connect plug device.
• See 5.7.
• Disconnect hydraulic piping! Press
switch lever E and pushbutton H of the
hydraulic cylinder (see illus. to point 5.9)
and press down switch cam S on the
hydraulic cylinder (see illus. page 13) by
hand. Diode D of the proximity switch N
should light up and the hydraulic unit
should start to run.
- Check the attachment of the proximity
switch and switch cam S.
- Check switch distance A between
switch cam S and the proximity switch
N (nom. 1 mm).
- Inspect the draw spring by
pressing lever Z (see page 13).
• Unscrew handle. Detach the plug device
from the control cabling and check the
control cabling for throughput. If
necessary, replace the hydraulic pipe
with the control cabling. Connect the
control cabling to the hydraulic cylinder
as follows:
