-Vent surfaces can get hot enough to cause burns if touched by children.
Non-combustible shielding or guards may be required.
- Be sure to use approved pellet vent pipe and wall passthrough fittings to go through
combustible materials.
The type of installation must first be considered before determining the exact location of the
venting termination in relation ship to doors, window, cavities or air vents. See figures 18-19.

The clearance to a door, window or cavity must be at least:
- 4' (1.2 m) below;
- 4' (1.2 m) horizontally;
- 1' (305 mm) above.
The clearance to fresh air intake for combustion of the pellet stove or any other appliance,
or the non-mechanical air supply inlet to the building must be at least 4' (1.2 m).
The clearance to a mechanical air supply inlet to the building must be at least 10' (3 m).
