Live components may be exposed if covers are opened or parts
are removed unless this can be done by hand. The connection
points may also be live. Before calibration, servicing, repair work
or the replacement of parts or assemblies, the device must be dis-
connected from all sources of current if it has to be opened. If
after that, calibration, servicing or repairs on the open device are
unavoidable, these may only be carried out by a specialist who is
familiar with the risks involved and with the relevant regulations.
Capacitors in the device may still be charged even if the device
has been disconnected from all sources of voltage and measuring
circuits.
Servicing
The PC oscilloscope is maintenance-free except for occasional cleaning
with a clean, fuzz-free, anti-static, dry cleaning cloth.
Do not use scouring or chemical agents containing petrol, alcohol
or similar substances for cleaning purposes. These could attack
the surface. Moreover, the vapours are detrimental to health and
also explosive.
Never use sharp-edged tools, screwdrivers, metal brushes or sim-
ilar for cleaning.
