Solar animal repeller
with motion detector
Item no. 71 00 68
Intended use
With the help of a PIR movement sensor, the product activates an ultrasonic generator having an audio
frequency of approx. 23 kHz and an LED fl ash light. Wild animals can be driven away with this device.
Power is supplied by a built-in rechargeable battery, which is charged by the solar cells integrated in the
product when there is ample sunlight.
This product complies with the applicable national and European requirements. All names of companies and

Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these safety
instructions! We do not assume liability for any resulting damage.
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by improper use
or non-compliance with the safety instructions. In such cases, the warranty will be null
and void.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modifi cation of the product is not permitted for safety and
approval reasons (CE).
• The product is not a toy and must be kept out of the reach of children. Install the product out
of reach of children.
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous playthings for chil-
dren.
• Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental drops, even
from a low height.
Notes on rechargeable batteries
• Rechargeable batteries that have leaked or are damaged can cause burns when they come in contact with
skin; in this case, therefore, use protective gloves.
If chemical fl uids from the rechargeable battery get onto other surfaces, this can cause discolouration or
other damage to these surfaces!
• If the rechargeable battery has become deformed, do not use it anymore; rather, dispose of it in an envi-
ronmentally-friendly way.
• The rechargeable battery may never be short circuited, dismantled or thrown into a fi re. There is a risk of
explosion!
• The rechargeable battery's output and thereby the operating life can be considerably reduced at low
temperatures.
Features of the PIR Motion Detector
The PIR motion detector responds to temperature changes within the detection range, e.g. if an animal with
a temperature different from the background enters the detection area.
To ensure optimum detection, the movement sensor must be placed so that the object to be detected does
not approach the movement sensor directly, but passes through the detection area from left to right or vice
versa. Bear this in mind when you choose a suitable location for installation.
The range for detecting motion is determined by several factors:
• The movement sensor's mounting height
• Temperature difference between the moving object and the background (ambient)
• The size of the object
• The distance of the object from the movement sensor
• Direction and speed of the movement
• Ambient temperature
Installation
The product is designed for operation outdoors. Install it such that the solar module lies on top.
Via an opening on the back, the product can be hung on a hook, a nail or a screw on a vertical surface.
The installation height should be approx. 0.3 to 0.5 m, so that animals on the ground are detected reliably.
Select the installation location such that the motion sensor and the ultrasonic loudspeaker are positioned in
the direction that is to be monitored.
This area should not be traversed by human beings or crossed by vehicles, as otherwise, the device can be
triggered erroneously, reducing its duration of operation.
The product must be installed and operated in such a way that animals have suffi cient escape
routes. Therefore, never operate it in the vicinity of cages, stables or apartments.
Direct the solar module approximately towards the south.
Do not turn the solar module multiple times in the same direction, as otherwise, the connecting
cable inside may get entangled, and therefore damaged.
Getting Started
www.conrad.com
There is a switch at the bottom which can be used to select the following modes:
"ON1"
Version 12/12
"ON2"
"OFF"
Changing the rechargeable battery
The special rechargeable battery has a very long lifespan in regular use. However, should you determine
that the service life is strongly reduced despite suffi ciently long solar irradiation; you can easily change the
rechargeable battery.
Proceed as follows:
• For this purpose, remove the two screws on the underside (one of these may be covered by the label).
• Remove the lower covering; this can be carefully pried off, for example, using a fl at screwdriver.
• Remove the old rechargeable battery and replace it with a new rechargeable battery of the same design
(LiFe type). In doing so, you must pay close attention to the correct polarity (observe plus/+ and minus/-
poles). The positive pole of the rechargeable battery is the small round contact that stands out; the nega-
tive pole is the somewhat larger fl at contact surface on the other end of the battery.
• Replace the cover; in so doing, make sure that the plastic slider for the mode selection lies correctly on the
sliding switch.
• Screw the two screws back into place tightly.
Tips and Notes
• The ultrasonic sound lies outside the hearing range of human beings.
• When selecting the place of installation, think of a vandal and thief proof position.
• Install the product in such a way that it remains exposed to sunlight for the maximum possible time, so that
the rechargeable battery can be charged suffi ciently.
• Switch the product off if you do not need it for longer periods.
• The duration of operation is reduced in winter on account of low temperature and the predominantly
shortened duration of sunlight.
• Not all animals respond to the ultrasonic or LED fl ash signal.
Disposal
a) General
b) Batteries and rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are legally obliged (battery ordinance) to return all used batteries and rechargeable
batteries; disposing of these in the household waste is forbidden!
You can return your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge at the collection points in your
community, our branches or anywhere batteries/rechargeable batteries are sold.
When you do this you fulfi l the legal obligations and do your part to protect the environment.

If the motion sensor detects a heat change within the monitoring range, the ultrasonic genera-
tor and an LED fl ash are activated for a duration of approx. 20 seconds (if the movement/heat
change persists, the ultrasonic generator and the LEDs also remain active).
If the motion sensor detects a heat change within the monitoring range, the ultrasonic generator
is activated for a duration of approx. 20 seconds (if the movement/heat change persists, the
ultrasonic generator also remains active).
The solar animal repeller is switched off.
The rechargeable battery is usually fl at when delivered. The rechargeable battery should be
charged for 1-2 days in sunlight before activating the device for the fi rst time. During this period,
the switch must be left in the "OFF" position.
The internal rechargeable battery gets charged in all the switch positions, provided suffi cient
light falls on the solar cell.
Dispose of the product at the end of its operational life according to the applicable legal
regulations.
Batteries/rechargeable batteries that contain hazardous materials are labelled with this sym-
bol, which denotes the ban on disposal through the household waste. The designations for
the defi ning heavy metals are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead (designation is on battery/
rechargeable battery, e.g. under the dustbin symbol pictured at left).
