Portable banknote verifier
with light

Intended Use
This banknote verifier is used to test the fluorescent features or the watermarks of
banknotes. The product disposes of a UV-light and a torchlight function with white
light, in order to verify the watermarks of banknotes. To be conveniently portable, the
product has a carrying strap.
The portable banknote verifier must not get damp or wet.
It is powered by 4 x 1.5V Mignon batteries (type: AA; not supplied)
Any use other than that described above may damage the product and may involve
other risks, such as short-circuits, fire and electric shock. No part of the product may
be changed or modified.
The safety instructions and technical data must be followed without fail!

Explanation of the Symbols
A lightning-bolt symbol in a triangle indicates a health hazard, e.g. danger
of electric shock.
The exclamation mark in a triangle indicates a particular risk during hand-
ling, operation and control.
The „Hand" symbol indicates special tips and operating information.

Safety Instructions

The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to
observe these safety instructions. We do not assume any liability for
any consequential damage!
We do not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury
caused by improper handling or non-compliance with the safety
instructions. The warranty will be void in such cases.
• It is powered by 4 x 1.5V Mignon batteries (type: AA; not supplied)
• The product must not be modified or converted, as not only the CE appro-
val will become void but the warranty as well.
• After rapid changes in temperature, the product requires some time to
stabilise, in order to adjust to the ambient temperature, before it can be
used. Wait until the product has had time to adjust to the ambient tem-
perature.
• Electronic devices are not toys and should be kept out of the reach of chil-
dren!
• Please contact qualified personnel if you are unsure about the safety or the
correct use of the product.
• Never leave the packaging material lying around unattended. Plastic
film/bags etc. can be dangerous playthings for children; there is a risk of
suffocation.
• If you have a reason to assume that safe operation is no longer possible,
disconnect the device immediately and secure it against inadvertent
operation.
• It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if:
- the device is visibly damaged,
- the device does not function any longer and
- the device has been stored under unfavourable conditions for a long
period of time or
- it has been subjected to considerable stress during transportation.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the
Employer's Liability Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and
Operating Materials are to be observed.
• The product must not get damp or wet.
• Never pour fluids above electrical devices.

Battery notes
• Batteries should be kept out of the reach of children.
• Please observe the correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting the battery.
• Do not leave batteries lying around in the open; there is a risk of them being
swallowed by children or domestic animals. If swallowed, consult a doctor imme-
diately.
• Leaking or damaged batteries can cause burns when coming into contact with the
skin, you should therefore always handle them with the appropriate protective gloves.
• Make sure that the battery is neither short-circuited nor thrown into a fire. There is a
risk of explosion!
• Do not recharge normal batteries. There is a risk of explosion!
• If the battery is to be unused for a while (e.g. storage), remove it. Old batteries may
leak and cause damage to the product, which will lead to the loss of the
warranty/guarantee.
• For environment friendly disposal of batteries and rechargeable batteries, please
read the chapter „Disposal".
Inserting / replacing batteries
• Remove the lateral battery compartment lid.
• Remove the used batteries, if necessary.
• Insert two 4 x 1.5V mignon batteries (type: AA; not supplied) with the correct
alignment.
• Replace the cover on the battery compartment.

Replacing the UV tube
• Unclip the transparent cover carefully from the housing. The white part remains on
the housing.
• Remove the bulb (For this purpose, the tube is to be rotated by 90°).
• Insert the new bulb (4W UV fluorescent tube (Type: BLB-T5/4W)) and lock it in place
rotating it by 90°.
• Replace the transparent cover. You simply clip it on the white housing part.
Fold-out foot:
The counterfeit detector for banknotes features a fold-out foot on the housing side. This
foot enables its operation in a standing, upright position e.g. on a table. In this position
the banknote to be checked can be held comfortably in front of the UV-tube.
• Maintenance, adjustment and repair may only be carried out by a
qualified specialist or a specialised repair shop.
• If you have any questions, which are not answered in this manual, please
contact our technical service or another specialist.
The use of rechargeable batteries may lead to less brightness and/or a
shorter service life. Therefore, we recommend the use of high-quality
alkaline batteries.
