Motion Detector 150° with

Quick Connector

Item-No. 62 40 15
Intended Use
This motion detector has a horizontal detection area of 150°. Additionally, you can adjust the
motion detection from 10 seconds to max. 10 minutes and the brightness sensitivity from 5 Lux
up to 1000 LUX; for this, rotary knobs are placed beneath the housing. Omic load up to a maxi-
mum of 1000 Watts and inductive load of up to a maximum of 500 Watts can be connected and
switched.
To facilitate the mounting, the rear cover of the connector terminal can be removed. The rear
cover also serves as a mounting plate. After successful installation, the motion detector can be
simply plugged onto the back housing cover (contact pins supplied) and fixed with two fastening
screws.
The motion detector is suitable for operation in outdoor areas (IP55).
It is powered via 230 V/AC 50 Hz.
Do not operate the product in any other way than that described above. This could lead to damage
to the product, which may give rise to hazards such as short circuit, fire, and electric shock. The pro-
duct must not be modified or converted. Always observe the safety instructions included
in these operating instructions. Read the operating instructions carefully and keep them for later
reference.
Explanation of the Symbols
A lightning-bolt symbol in a triangle indicates a health hazard, e.g. danger of elect-
ric shock.
The exclamation mark in a triangle indicates a particular risk during handling, ope-
ration and control.
The „Hand" symbol indicates special tips and operating information.
Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! Liability for any and all consequential damage is
excluded!
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions. The warranty
will be void in such cases.
• The motion detector is suitable for use on a vertical wall in dry indoors.
• If the motion detector and the junction box are brought from a cold into a warm
room (e.g. for transport reasons), it is possible that condensation water may deve-
lop. This might cause a lethal electric shock! Therefore, allow the components to
reach room temperature before installing and operating them.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the unit is not permitted
because of safety and approval reasons (CE).
• Do not bend the connecting cables, and do not put any heavy objects on them.
• Only a person knowledgeable of the specifications (VDE) and the dangers should
install this product.
• Ensure that all the electrical connections and connection cables between the dif-
ferent devices and any extension cables comply with the regulations and comply
with the operating instructions.
• Live components may be exposed, if the covers are opened or parts removed
(unless this can be done without tools). Further, the connection points may be live.
If the appliance needs to be opened for calibration, servicing, repair or to replace
parts or circuit boards, it must be disconnected first from all sources of current. If
servicing or internal repairs are necessary, this must be carried out by a specialist
who is familiar with the risks involved and with the relevant regulations.
• A safe operation can no longer be assumed, if:
- the device is visibly damaged,
- the device does not function any longer and
- if the device was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time
or
- it has been subjected to considerable stress during transportation.
• Please contact an expert, if it is no longer safe to use the unit or you have doubts
about the function of the product. Never try to repair the product or replace damaged
cables yourself.
• Keep electrical devices out of the reach of children. Take particular care when chil-
dren are around, as they may try to stick objects into the unit through the openings
in the housing. There is danger of a life-threatening electric shock.

Description of the Function
This motion detector responds to heat radiation, which is emitted by objects entering the detection
area of the motion detector. The motion detector must „see" the area it is to keep under surveillance.
Heat radiation travels in straight lines but is obstructed, for example, by glass or other fixed objects.
Before mounting, therefore, pay attention to this, or other problem sources. If someone enters the
detection area of the motion detector, the electric consumer connected to it is switched on, the red
LED is lit (behind the diffuser lens) and, after an adjustable period switched off again automatically. In
addition, the ambient brightness, at which the motion detector shall be activated, can be adjusted.
Installation and Connection
Proceed as follows, to ensure the correct installation:
Take out the main fuse from your fuse box (in the case of threaded/automatic fuses) or switch
off the main fuse before starting with the installation.
• Remove the „fastening screws" and
take the cover of the connector terminal
off.
• There are two mounting holes on the
removed cover.
• Hold the cover to the desired spot for
installation and mark the mounting
holes on the wall (e.g. using a pencil).
• Drill the holes for mounting into the
wall.
• Attach the cover to the wall with suitable mounting material.
• Connect the internal terminal according to the following connection example:
• The motion detector must only be operated with a voltage of 230 V/AC.
• Never position the motion switch close to combustible or easily inflammable mate-
rials, e.g. curtains.
• Never expose the motion detector to extremely high or extremely low temperatures,
humidity or vibrations.
• Strong mechanical tensile or compressive forces can damage the motion detector.
• The product is designed for outdoor use (IP55).
• Observe that the corresponding fuse is removed from the fuse box (or switch the
circuit breaker) prior to mounting and connecting.
• Devices operated using the mains voltage must be kept out of the reach of chil-
dren. Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous play-
things for children.
• Consider the current legal framework before you install the motion detector.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's
Liability Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Materials are
to be observed.
• In schools, educational centres, hobby and self-help workshops the operation of
the product is to be supervised by trained employees.
When selecting the position for installing the motion detector, please note that
it must not be subjected to direct sunlight, vibrations, dust, heat or cold. This
may lead to faulty activation, failure or functional impairment.
The product is IP55-protected and thus, suitable for outdoor areas. Ensure
that the device is voltage-free during installation and connection!
No devices which produce strong magnetic or electric fields, such as mobile
phones, electric motors, etc. must be in the immediate vicinity.
Recommended installation height: 2.5 to 3 metres
To ensure optimal motion detection, the motion detector must be placed so
that the object to be detected does not approach the motion detector directly
but passes from left to right or vice versa
