Motion and Noise Switch
Item-No. 61 17 59
Use in accordance with manufacturer's instructions
This motion and noise switch provides a horizontal motion detection range of 140°. The
detection range is max. 9 metres.
In addition, you have the option to set the reaction duration for motion detection from 10 seconds
(+/- 5 seconds) to max. 7 minutes (+/- 2 minutes), the sensitivity of the motion detection and the
brightness sensitivity from approx. 3 lux up to a daylight level.
Furthermore, the motion and noise switch features an integrated noise sensor. The reaction
sensitivity of the noise sensor can be adjusted too.
Only Ohm resistive loads of up to 500 Watts max. can be plugged and connected.
The product is suitable for use in dry indoor locations.
It is powered via 230 V/AC 50 Hz.
Do not operate the product in any other way than that described above. This could lead to damage
to the product, which may give rise to hazards such as short circuit, fire, and electric shock. The
product must not be modified or converted. Always observe the safety instructions included in
these operating instructions. Read the operating instructions carefully and keep them for later
reference.
Explanation of Symbols
A lightning-bolt symbol in a triangle indicates a health hazard, e.g. danger of electric
shock.
The exclamation mark in a triangle indicates a particular risk during handling,
operation and control.
The "Hand" symbol indicates special tips and operating information.

Safety instructions

The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for any consequential
damage!
We do not assume any liability for personal injury or damage to property
caused by incorrect handling or non-observance of the safety instructions.
The warranty will be null and void in such cases.
• The motion and noise switch is suitable for operation on a vertical wall (e.g. for the
mounting in a Ø68 mm wall-mount box; Conrad order no.: 624926).
• When the product is taken from a cold to a warm room (e.g. during transport),
condensation may be produced. This might cause a lethal electric shock!
Therefore, allow the components to reach room temperature before installing and
operating them.
• The unauthorized conversion and/or modification of the motion and noise detector
is inadmissible for reasons of safety and approval (CE).
• Do not bend the connecting cables, or place any heavy objects on them.
• Only a person knowledgeable of the specifications (VDE) and the dangers should
install this product.
• Ensure that all the electrical connections and connection cables between the
different devices and any extension cables comply with the regulations and comply
with the operating instructions.
• Live components may be exposed, if the covers are opened or parts removed
(unless this can be done without tools). Further, the connection points may be live.
If the appliance needs to be opened for calibration, servicing, repair or to replace
parts or circuit boards, it must be disconnected first from all sources of current . If
servicing or internal repairs are necessary, this must be carried out by a specialist
who is familiar with the risks involved and with the relevant regulations.
• A safe operation can no longer be assumed, if:
- the device is visibly damaged,
- the device does not function any longer and
- the device has been stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of
time or
- it has been subjected to considerable stress during transportation.
• Please contact an expert, if it is no longer safe to use the unit or you have doubts
about the function of the product. Never try to repair the product or replace
damaged cables yourself.

Functional Description

This motion and noise detector responds to heat radiation, which is emitted by objects entering
the detection area of the motion and noise switch. The motion and noise switch must "see" the
area that it is to keep under surveillance. Heat radiation travels in straight lines but is obstructed,
for example, by glass or other fixed objects. Before mounting, therefore, pay attention to this, or
other problem sources. When the detection area of the motion and noise switch is entered, the
electric consumer load is activated and deactivated after the preset reaction duration. In addition,
the ambient brightness at which the motion sensor shall react, as well as the sensitivity for
motion detection can be set.
Furthermore, the motion and noise switch has an integrated noise sensor. Thus, the product
enables the activation of a connected consumer load in the event of a noise detection which
exceeds the preset minimum sound level (Setting range: 30 dB ~ 90 dB).
Installation and Connection
Proceed as follows, to ensure the correct installation:
• Take out the main fuse from your fuse box (in the case of threaded/automatic fuses) or switch
off the main fuse before starting with the installation. In any case, the connection cables must
be disconnected from the voltage.
• Connect the voltage supply as well as the Ohm resistive load (max. 500 Watts) in accordance
with the following terminal connection diagram:
The connection diagram shows the housing's rear.
• Keep electrical devices out of the reach of children. Take particular care when chil-
dren are around, as they may try to stick objects into the unit through the openings
in the housing. There is danger of a life-threatening electric shock.
• The motion and noise switch may only be operated with a voltage of 230 V/AC 50 Hz.
• Never position the motion and noise switch close to combustible or easily
inflammable materials, e.g. curtains.
• Never expose the motion and noise switch to extremely high or extremely low tem-
peratures, humidity or vibrations.
• Strong mechanical tensile or compressive forces can damage the motion and
noise detector.
• The product is suitable for use in dry indoor locations.
• Only Ohm loads of up to 500 Watts max. may be connected to the product (Triac).
• Observe that the corresponding fuse is removed from the fuse box (or switch off
the circuit breaker) prior to mounting and connecting.
• Devices operated using the mains voltage must be kept out of the reach of chil-
dren. Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous
playthings for children.
• Consider the current legal framework before you install the motion and noise
switch.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's
Liability Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Materials are
to be observed.
• In schools, educational centres, hobby and self-help workshops the operation of
the product is to be supervised by trained employees.
When selecting the position for installing the motion and noise switch, please
note that it must not be subjected to direct sunlight, vibrations, dust, heat,
moisture or cold. This may lead to faulty activation, failure or functional
impairment.
The product is suitable for use in dry indoor locations. Ensure that the device
is voltage-free during installation and connection!
Do not place devices with strong magnetic or electric fields, such as mobile
phones, electric motors, etc. in the immediate vicinity.
Recommended installation height: 0.4 to 1.8 metres
To ensure optimum motion detection, the motion and noise switch must be
placed so that the object to be detected does not approach the motion and
noise switch directly but passes from left to right or vice versa.
Terminal instructions:
L: Connect the phase of the electrical sup-
ply here (230 V/AC 50 Hz).
N: Connect the neutral conductor of the
electrical supply here (230 V/AC 50 Hz).
LOAD: Ohm resistive load; e.g. light bulb
