b) USB hub
• The USB2.0 hub is USB1.1 compatible. This means that normal USB1.1 devices can be used
with no problem on the USB2.0 Hub. However, this will not speed up the USB1.1 devices!
Should your computer still have USB1.1 and USB 2.0 ports (all modern computers only have
USB2.0 interfaces), always connect the device to a USB2.0 port on the computer, in order to
use the higher transfer rate.
• Normally, USB operation is not possible in DOS or in the protected mode of Windows.
Nevertheless, depending on the computer or BIOS /Setup settings, it possible to use a USB
keyboard and a USB mouse. It is necessary, however, to connect them directly to the com-
puter's USB interface, i.e. not to the USB Hub.
• The two USB ports on top can be activated/deactivated by the alongside switch. Hereby, only
the current supply is disconnected; this can be used, for example, for a USB fan or a USB light.
• Please ensure that no devices with higher current consumption are connected to the USB
ports. According to the USB standard, USB ports of a USB hub without a separate power pack
deliver a maximum current of up to 100mA.
If you want to operate USB devices with higher current consumption (e.g., a USB scanner or
a Slimline DVD burner etc.), please connect them either directly to the computer or to a USB
hub with a separate power pack.
c) IR-Multimedia-Remote-Control
• Point the front of the IR multimedia remote control, if possible, directly on the IR receiver at the
front side of the card reader/USB hub.
• The functions that can be controlled by the keys of the remote control depend on the hardware
in your computer. Although some TV functions are also possible through the Internet, the full
capacity is only then developed when a corresponding TV/radio card (e.g. broadcasting text)
is used.
Bear in mind that for the operation of the IR remote control, a corresponding version of
Windows is required (e.g. Windows XP MCE, Windows Vista Home Premium or Windows 7
Home Premium).
• The IR receiver may not be detected correctly after installation in the "Windows 7" operating
system.
Hence, please proceed as follows:
1. Open "Device Manager" in the "Control Panel". To do this, select the "Hardware and Sound"
function in the "Control Panel" and click on "Device Manager".
There is a question mark against "eHome infrared receiver" in the USB Controller; Windows 7
could not start the hardware.
2. Click the "eHome infrared receiver" with the right mouse key and select "Update driver soft-
ware".
3. Then select "Search driver software on the computer".
4. Click on "Select from a list of device drivers on the computer".
5. "eHome infrared receiver" and "USB- plug-in device" now appear in the selection list that
appears.
6. Click on the "USB plug-in device" entry and then click on "Continue". All the drivers are now
connected correctly. This operation can take about 1 minute. Finally, the product is
available with all its functions also under Windows 7.
d) SIM card software
• Using the provided Software data of a SIM card (stored names/telephone numbers) can be
read and transferred to the PC and also edited and retransferred.
• The SIM card is to be inserted such that the contacts are at the bottom; the slanting corner
points to the right of the cable. Insert the card carefully into the plug-in unit horizontally.
• Never pull out the SIM card while data are being read or written, since the SIM card will be
damaged by this or data can be lost!
Disposal
a) In general
Electric and electronic products must not be disposed of in household waste.
Dispose of the product at the end of its serviceable life in accordance with the cur-
rent statutory requirements; e. g. return it to any suitable collection point.
b) Batteries and rechargeable batteries
The end user is legally obliged (Battery Regulation) to return used batteries and rechargeable
batteries. Do not dispose of used batteries in household waste!
Contaminated batteries/rechargeable batteries are labelled with these symbols to
indicate that disposal in household waste is forbidden. The symbols for the relevant
heavy metals are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead (name on battery/rechar-
geable battery, e.g. under the rubbish bin icons on the left).
You can dispose of your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge at
your community's collection point or any place where batteries/rechargeable
batteries are sold!
You therefore fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
