Using dialog boxes
Some program functions open up dialog boxes in which you can enter values, or
for displaying the current operating status. These dialog boxes contain entry fields
which you can enter text and values, and also so-called buttons. Buttons initiate
functions. Each window contains at least one button which is used, for example,
to close that window when you request it to.
Screens containing more than one button or entry field always have one of these
elements highlighted. In the case of a highlighted entry field, this ensures that you
only make changes to the contents of that field. In the case of buttons, the
highlighting allows you to call up the functions available.
When you select the {Terminate program} function from the {Quit} sub-menu, a
message screen with two buttons appears, which contain the texts "OK" and
"Cancel". Note that, if you select "Cancel", this will interrrupt the closing down of
the program. You need to press "OK" if you really want to end the program.
"Cancel" is the default value. This is standard for dialog boxes that call up actions.
Select "OK" if you want to end the program. To do so, press the [Tab] key, or the
key combination [Shift] + [Tab]. Both these alternatives move the highlighting onto
the "OK" button, so you can then confirm it by pressing [¿].
These key functions for selecting buttons apply to all dialog boxes. However, you
can also close dialog boxes by pressing the [Esc] button.
In the button descriptions a letter is highlighted. You can select the button by
holding down the [Alt] key and pressing the letter highlighted in that button.

3.2 Setting up the connection

Before you can carry out parametrization, you must set up a connection via the
serial interface. To allow this, you must ensure that the connection instructions in
point 1 of this document have been followed correctly.
To create the logical connection, access the {Connection} menu item. There you
will find the menu option {Single instrument}.
If you do not set up a connection, the {Display} and {Diagnostics} menu items
are not available.
Once the connection has been set up, and is free of errors, a dialog box with the
title "Reading EPROM data" appears. A bar graph shows the progress of data
transfer.
