Special safety instructions for grinding
and cutting
VOnly use sanding media approved for
your power tool and only for the
recommended activities. Example: Never
grind with the sides of a cutting disc.
Cutting discs are designed for material
removal using the edge of the disc. Force
imparted on the side could cause
disintegration of the abrasive wheel.
For conical and straight grinding pins with
threads, use only undamaged arbours of
the correct size and length without back
taper on the shoulder. Suitable arbours
mitigate the likelihood of breakage.
Avoid blocking the cutting disc and do not
impart excessive pressure. Do not cut too
deeply. Overloading the cutting disc
places greater strain on it and increases
the likelihood of it catching or blocking and
subsequently a kickback or abrasive
wheel breakage.
Keep your hand away from the area in
front of and behind the rotating cutting
disc. If you move the cutting disc in the
workpiece away by hand there is a chance
of the power tool with rotating disc being
violently thrust towards you in the event of
a kickback.
If the cutting disc becomes jammed or you
need to interrupt work, switch off the tool
and hold it steady until the disc has come
to rest. Never attempt to pull out the
rotating cutting disc as this could
otherwise cause a kickback. Determine
and rectify the cause of jamming.
Do not switch the power tool back on while
it is still in the workpiece. Allow the cutting
disc to reach its full operating speed
before cautiously continuing the cut. The
disc could otherwise catch, spring out of
the workpiece or cause a kickback.
Support panels/sheets or large
workpieces to mitigate the risk of a
kickback from jamming of the cutting disc.
Large workpieces can bend under their
own weight. The workpiece must be
supported on both sides of the disc. This
should be done in the vicinity of the cut as
well as at the edge.
Exercise extreme caution when plunge
cutting in existing walls or other areas with
restricted visibility. The plunging cutting
disc can cause a kickback if it strikes gas
or water pipes, electrical cables or other
objects.
Special safety notices for working with
wire brushes
Note that the wire brush loses wires during
normal use. Do not overload the wires by
pressing too hard. If wires fling off under
pressure they can very easily penetrate
light clothing and/or skin.
Allow brushes to run at operating speed
for at least a minute before using them.
Make sure during this time that no other
persons are in front of or on the same
plane as the brush. Loose wires could fling
out while the machine is picking up speed.
Direct the rotating wire brush away from
you. When working with these brushes,
small particles and tiny pieces of wire
could fling out at high speed and penetrate
the skin.
Additional safety instructions
It is not recommended to sand lead paint.
Lead paint should be removed by
a specialist only.
Do not work on materials which release
hazardous substances (e.g. asbestos).
Take precautions if hazardous,
combustible or explosive dust is likely to
occur. Wear protective dust mask. Use
dust extraction system.
When working, hold the electric power
tool firmly with both hands and ensure
that you have a secure footing. The
electric power tool is controlled more
securely if held with both hands.
Do not use the electric power tool if it has
a damaged power cord. Do not touch the
damaged power cord and pull out the
mains plug if the power cord is damaged
during work. Damaged power cords
increase the risk of an electric shock.
DAMAGE TO PROPERTY!
The mains voltage and the voltage
specifications on the rating plate must
correspond.
