INTRODUCTION
Formaldehyde (HCHO) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) are certainly the most
common and the most dangerous substance groups with regard to indoor air exposure.
For this reason, both HCHO concentration and VOC level indications are shown in real
time simultaneously, to ensure the room air is harmless.
What is HCHO?
HCHO (Formaldehyde) is a colorless, flammable, strong-smelling chemical that is used
in building materials and to produce many household products from furniture to cosmetic,
it is present in everywhere. Formaldehyde also occurs naturally in the environment. It is
produced in small amounts by most living organisms as part of normal metabolic
processes. At low levels, breathing in HCHO can cause eye, nose and throat irritation. At
higher levels, Formaldehyde exposure can cause skin rashes, shortness of breath,
wheezing and changes in lung function.
What is VOC?
VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) are gases that are emitted into the air from products
or processes, which maybe harmful by themselves, including some that cause cancer. In
addition, they can react with other gases and form other air pollutants after they are in
the air. Example of air pollutants (and their sources) include Acetone (paints, solvent,
glues), Toluene (furniture, mattresses, building products), Ethanol (alcohol, cleaner,
perfumes), odors (rotten food, farts, feces, pee), Benzenes (cigarette smoke, engine
exhaust), etc.
Swiss sensor technology
The device comes with Swiss made SENSIRION HCHO SFA series and VOC level SGP
series sensors designed for air quality application.
Multi-zone feature
Through our multi-zone technologies, each device has a unique device code with a user
selectable channel number. Up to 4 separate air quality sensors can be placed in an open
proximity covering an area across 100m radius from its main display unit (to be purchased
separately).
Low maintenance
The robust sensor has a lifetime of 6 years due to its advanced anti-dry technology, thus
avoiding problems related to sensor drift or malfunction.
