Models RD644, RD614 – Protection for Dental Use
RD644
Use patient protection RD644 with an integrated thyroid protection when taking X-rays of
sitting or supine patients. Loops on the back of the apron allow the apron to be attached
to the dental chair.
Put the apron on the patient so that the front of the body is covered from the neck to
at least below the gonads as well as the entire sternum and shoulders and the protection
is not in the imaging area. Close the hook and burr fastener in the neck area of the patient.
RD614
Use the patient thyroid protection to extend the protection of the dental radiation
protective aprons RD635 and RD642.
Place the thyroid sternum shield on the patient so that it covers the front of the neck
including the thyroid and overlaps the apron. Close the thyroid shield in the neck.
WARNING – Insufficient Protective Area
An overlap of thyroid shield and radiation protection clothing is necessary to ensure
continuous radiation protection. Non-continuous coverage with radiation protective
clothing increases patient exposure to radiation.
CAUTION
Please note that the magnetic closure of the thyroid shield must be closed in a particular
way. Always close the magnetic closure so that - from your point of view - the right
magnet is placed over the left magnet. Otherwise, the closure may not hold.
WARNING – Magnetic Field
The magnetic closure of the thyroid shield contains permanent magnets that create a
magnetic field. This can lead to malfunctioning of implanted medical devices.
WARNING – No Persons with Pacemakers
The version of the thyroid protection with magnetic closure contains permanent magnets
that generate a magnetic field. The thyroid protection is therefore not to be used by
medical personnel with pacemakers or on patients with pacemakers.
