4.4 Disposal
At the end of the appliance's working life it must be dis-
posed of in accordance with the current local and national
regulations.
The appliance contains electrical and electronic compo-
nents, referred to as "Waste of electrical and electronic
equipment" (WEEE).
In accordance with Italian Legislative Decree 49/2014,
which implements Directive 2012/19/EU, the Manufactu-
rer requires that the appliance be disposed of at autho-
rised collection centres, to avoid potential affects on the
environment and to protect human health.
The symbol shown alongside indicates the
need to dispose of the appliance according to
the WEEE requirements when it is scrapped.
WARNING!
To avoid any unauthorised use and the rela-
ted risks, ensure that the appliance cannot be
reactivated before disposing of it. To do this, the ap-
pliance must be disconnected from the power supply
and the power supply cable must be cut.
5. Installation and operation of appliance
5.1 Electrical connection (plug-socket)
HAZARD RISK! Live components!
The appliance must only be connected to an electrical
socket individually protected against indirect contacts in
compliance with the regulations in force in the country of
use. Do not remove the appliance's plug by pulling the
power supply cable.
The power supply cable must never be placed in contact
with hot objects.
Do not spray water on the appliance and do not expose it
to rain, water or any other source of humidity.
The appliance can cause injuries if it is not installed cor-
rectly. Before installing the appliance compare the para-
meters of the local electricity mains supply with the tech-
nical data of the appliance (see the nameplate fitted on
the rear of the appliance, Fig. 2 – Para. 8). Only connect
the appliance to the mains if the above-mentioned data
correspond! All the safety instructions must be complied
with!
• Ensure that the power supply cable does not come into
contact with heat sources or sharp edges and that it
does not become blocked under the appliance. Ensure
that the cable is laid out properly, and not rolled up or
bent.
• The power supply cable must not be laid on carpets,
tablecloths, mats or on other heat insulating materials,
nor covered or immersed in water or other liquids and it
must be positioned where it cannot be walked on.
• Position the appliance so that the plug is always acces-
sible.
• Do not use adapters or extensions.

5.2 Handling and positioning

Ensure that, from the point of view of the dimensions, the
space provided for the appliance allows its correct use
and easy servicing as indicated in section 6.
• Remove the appliance from the packaging, taking care
to follow the instructions in Section 4 (Environmental
notes) with regard to the storage and disposal of the
packaging materials.
• Move the appliance taking care of doing it with the
appliance's head is always lowered and correctly lo-
cked, do not turn it upside-down andalways position it
on a stable and correctly leveled surface.
• Never place the appliance on an inflammable surface
(e.g. tablecloths, etc.).
• Do not position the appliance close to naked flames,
electric cookers, ovens or other sources of heat, such
as, for example, places exposed to the sun's direct
rays. The heat can damage the surface of the appliance
and adversely affect its operation.
• Position the appliance so that each part of it is always
at least 30 cm from walls, furniture and other objects,
in order to guarantee a good air circulation, optimum
access to all parts of the appliance and the space ne-
cessary for its operation.
During the working cycle, especially at higher
speeds, the appliance may slightly oscillate.
For this reason it is important that the appli-
ance is positioned on a sturdy, leveled work
surface, at the right height for comfortable work wit-
hout having to assume an incorrect posture.
• Do no drill holes into the appliance or attach objects to
it.
• The appliance must no be used if it is out of order, da-
maged or has suffered impacts.
• Do not use the appliance without having correctly po-
sitioned the bowl and the tools in the respective seats.
Refer to subsection 5.3 "Use" for further information re-
garding the correct sequence for fitting / removing the
bowl and tools.
• To avoid hazardous situations for the user do not use
accessories or spare parts which differ from those re-
commended by the manufacturer. The appliance could
be damaged or prove to be a risk for the health and
life of individuals. The warranty will no longer be valid if
non-genuine spare parts or accessories are used.
5.3 Use
• Clean the appliance before its first use (see Section 6 –
Cleaning and servicing).
• Insert the plug in an individually interlocked protected
electric socket in compliance with the local regulations.
5.4 Operation
The appliance is operated by means of a double switch:
"START" (green "–" symbol) and "STOP" (red "O" sym-
bol), and a knob to electronically adjust the speed.
The "START" button is protected against accidental start-
ups.
