General Operation
NOTE:
Some keys are to be found both on the device itself
and on the remote control. Keys with the same desi-
gnation have the same function.
Volume
You can set the desired volume using the VOL+/- buttons (21).
BASS BOOST OFF/ON (5)
To increase or decrease the bass output.
ON = on, OFF = off.
Switch-off
The machine is switched off when the function selector
switch (18) is turned to the OFF TAPE position. Unplug
the device.
AUX IN socket
To connect analogue replay devices. Via this socket you
can also hear the sound of other playback devices such
as MP3 players, CD players etc. through the loudspeakers.
1. Please connect the external device with a 3.5 mm
stereo jack plug to the AUX IN socket (17).
2. Turn the function selector switch (18) to CD/MP3 or
RADIO. The device switches automatically to AUX IN
operation. The radio or CD sound is switched off.
3. Through the loudspeakers you now hear the sound
from the external device; with the VOL+/- buttons
(21) you can change the volume. The CD buttons do
not have any function.
4. For the remaining procedure please see the operating
instructions of the external sound source.
NOTE:
Adjust the volume of the external device to a comfor-
table level.
Listening to the Radio
1. Turn the function selector switch (18) to the RADIO
position.
2. Use the band selector switch (10) to select the desired
frequency band.
VHF (Stereo) = FM ST., VHF = FM,
Medium wave = AM (Mono)
3. Tune in the desired station with the station adjust-
ment knob TUNING (7).
4. The FM.ST control lamp ((ST)) (in the display) only
lights up when you have selected FM stereo and the
station is being received in stereo quality. If reception
is too weak and there is noise on the station being
received, this lamp will flicker.

5. Try to improve reception by turning and bending or
twisting and altering the length of the antenna (26).
Where reception is bad we recommend switching to
FM.
6. An aerial is integrated into the device for the recep-
tion of AM stations. The machine can be aligned
to the station by turning it. In this frequency band
programs are transmitted in „mono" only.
Cassette Operation
Playing Cassettes
1. Turn the function selector switch (18) to the OFF
TAPE position.
2. Press the stop/eject button (13) to open the
cassette compartment (11).
3. Push a recorded audio cassette, with the tape down-
wards and the listening side facing forwards, into the
compartment (full reel to the left). Then close the
cassette compartment again.
4. Press the playback key (16) to listen to the tape.
5. With the stop/eject key you can stop playback.
6. Wind the tape forwards or backwards if necessary in
the direction of the arrow keys
= forwards (14), = reverse (15).
7. Always press the stop/eject key when changing
the direction or stopping the tape. This prevents
damage to the machine and the tape.
8. If the stop/eject button is pressed again the flap
of the cassette compartment opens.
9. In order to interrupt playback briefly, press the II
pause button (12). Pressing again continues playback.
Playing CDs/MP3
This is how you play a CD
1. Turn the function selector switch (18) to the „CD/
MP3" position.
2. In order to open the CD compartment (1), press the
button (4).
3. Insert an audio CD with the printed side facing
upwards on to the central cone so that the CD clicks
into place and then close the lid of the CD compart-
ment.
4. After a few seconds the total number of songs/tracks
is shown in the display.
NOTE:
In the case of CDs in MP3 format the number of
folders is briefly displayed at first.
5. Press the II PLAY/PAUSE button (20/6) in order to
play the CD. The CD will play from the first title. The
track currently being played, DISC or MP3 are
shown in the display.
6. In order to remove a CD, please press the STOP
button (19/5), open the CD compartment and lift the
CD out carefully.
