5. The principle of air purification
• A fan in the device draws in room air via the air inlets.
• The pre- lter is located at the top of the lter system for the initial ltration
of impurities. Larger particles such as dandruff, hair and dust are ltered
out.
• Afterwards, the sucked-in air ows through the EPA 11 lter. The
abbreviation EPA stands for "E ciency Particulate Air". The EPA lter
consists of a very ne bre material. It has the ability to capture the
smallest particles down to a size of between 0.1 to 0.3 m. Thus, it can
lter bacteria (0.6 to 1.0 m); ne dust (0.1 - 10 m) and pollen (10 - 100
m) from the air.
• The air then ows through an activated charcoal lter with a cold catalyst
layer. It lters out formaldehyde, benzene, other gases and unpleasant
odours. Activated charcoal has an excellent absorption capacity. It can
deodorise, dehumidify and in some cases trap viruses and have a sterilising
effect.
• The ioniser releases negatively charged ions into the air. These combine
with the positively charged dirt particles to form larger particles that can
be separated more easily.
• The ltered air is discharged into the room at the air outlet.
