THE COURsE OF THE GAME
set up
Each player is assigned the colour of the button on the board nearest to his seat.
When 2 players play: One player will be assigned the red colour, the other player the green.
When 3 players play: One player will be assigned the red colour, the second player the yellow, the third player
green. When 4 players play: One player will be assigned the red colour, the second player the yellow, the third play-
er green and the fourth blue. (A solitaire player will play against himself moving in turn for red and then for green.)
start (fig. 1)
Place 4 Rolit® balls in the initial position as shown in fig. 1. (This initial position will apply to 2,3 or 4 players). The
Rolit® balls will remain in the box at the disposal of all players, dealing them among the players is not necessary.
Who starts?
One of the players rolls one of the balls as a dice on the table, the player whose colour is shown will make the first move.
First move
The first move consists of placing one ball of his colour in a way that it will block one of his opponents' Rolit balls,
(see fig. 2 the red arrow) and then roll it over to show his own colour (see fig. 3 yellow arrow).
Game continues
The next player has his turn and the game continues. The other players will, in turn, place one ball and try to block
and roll over one op more of their opponents' Rolit® balls.
Colour disappears, blocking
When you colour 'disappears' from the playing-board or when blocking/capturing is not possible, don't panic, you
not possible.
can now put your Rolit® ball in any position on the board next to another Rolit® ball.
End of game
When all Rolit® balls are placed on the playingboard.
Winner
The winner is the player with the most Rolit® balls showing his colour when all of the balls have been played.
New round
Turn the board upside down into the box. The box now holds all Rolit® balls. To start a new round change the order
of players, to give everyone on an equal chance.
FURTHER ExPLANATION AND ExAMPLEs
Block (fig. 2/3)
Blocking only takes place between the newly placed ball and the next ball already in place on the playing-board
of the same colour and in a straight line (see fig. 2 the blue arrow).
Capture (fig. 2/3)
The blocked ball is now captured by rolling it to show the colour of the capturing balls. (see fig. 2 the yellow arrow).

Notice!
1. A Rolit® ball should always be placed next to a ball already in place on the playing-board.
2. A player is allowed to place on the playing-board only one ball per turn.
3. When blocking and capturing is feasible, you must block and capture.
Example
Please follow the example in fig. 4 and 5. Blocking is exclusively done between the newly placed ball (see the red
arrow in fig. 4) and the next ball having the same colour (see green arrow in fig. 4). The blocked Rolit® balls (see
the yellow arrows in fig.4) are now captured by rolling them to show the colour of the capturing ball (see the yellow
arrows in fig. 5).
Blocking in all
Balls can be blocked and captured horizontally and/or vertically and/or diagonally but only in straight lines. See fig.
directions (fig. 6/7)
6, the red arrow is pointing at the newly placed ball, the green arrows are pointing at the limits of the blockades. In
fig. 7 you can see the result. When blocking/capturing is feasible in more than one position, choose what appears
to you to be the best tactical move. (See further under 'Tactical tips'). When blocking/capturing is feasible and you
have made your choice, all Rolit® balls that can be captured as a result of this move, will be rolled into your colour.
IMPORTANT NOTEs AND TACTICAL TIPs
score
Keep the score of each individual round won and the matching points per round. (Each ball in your colour is worth
one point.) The player who has won the most rounds is declared the winner of the game. In the event of a draw,
based on the winning of rounds, the player with the highest overall points is the winner.
Tips
Once you have make de a 'legal' move, there is no retreat. An 'illegal' move should be corrected by placing the ball
in a 'legal' position. The corresponding player will have another go to try and make a 'legal' move. Blocking/captur-
ing occurs only when the newly placed ball takes part in the blockade. Any other blockades that may emerge or be
created must be ignored.
Tactical tips (fig. 8)
When blocking/capturing is feasible in more than one position, choose what appears to you to be the best tactical
move. Such a move will not necessarily result in the greatest number of captured balls, as some positions on the
board are tactically superior while other positions are tactically inferior and should be avoided. Fig. 8 shows details
on tactical 'value' of the different positions on the playing board:

Plan ahead!
Note that every move you make will not only affect the player who will follow you, but all the other players as well
(including 'the leader' in the game, at that moment). Rolit® is an exciting and unpredictable game, where anything
can happen at any stage in the game. Sometimes it looks as if you are going to lose, but suddenly a crucial move
enables you to roll it smoothly and... win!
Time limit
When player take too much time, apply a time limit of 1 minute,
Other variations
For a quick game apply the regular rules but use only part of the playing board: 6 by 6 (36 sockets) for 2-4 players
and 4 by 4 (16 sockets) for 2 players.
