❐ Beware of hot steam! Do not open the fi lter compartment and water reservoir lid during
operation and be careful when you open the fi lter reservoir and water reservoir lid to fi ll
the machine when the device is still hot.

❐ Do not use the device if there are fl ammable gases present in the air.

For Your Health

❐ The device may contain production residues. To avoid harmful effects to your health, clean
the device before you fi rst use it (see the "Before Initial use" chapter).
❐ Only ever use fresh drinking water to make coffee. Do not use any water that comes from
a bath, wash basin or other containers.
❐ Keep the device clean to prevent germs and lime formation.

Setting up and Connecting the Device Correctly

❐ Use the device only in enclosed spaces.
❐ Always place the device on a dry, level, fi rm and heat-resistant surface.
❐ Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, strong temperature fl uctuations,
direct sunlight or moisture.
❐ Maintain a suffi cient distance from heat sources such as hobs or ovens in order not to
damage the device.
❐ Connect the device only to a properly installed socket with safety contacts. The power
socket must also be readily accessible after connection. The mains voltage must match the
technical data for the device (see the "Technical Data" chapter). Only use suitable exten-
sion cables whose technical data is the same as that of the device.
❐ Make sure that the connected mains leads are not a tripping hazard. Do not allow cables
to hang over the edge of tables or kitchen counters. Others may become caught and pull
the device down.
❐ Position the cables in such a way that they do not become squashed or bent and do not
come into contact with hot surfaces.

Correct Use

❐ Check the device for damage before each use. If the device, lead or plug is visibly dam-
aged, the device must not be used. Do not use the device if it has malfunctioned or been
dropped.
❐ If the device is broken, do not attempt to repair it yourself. In the event of any damage,
contact our customer service department.
❐ Only use accessories which are recommended by the manufacturer.
❐ Do not drop the device or allow it to be knocked violently.
❐ Do not leave the device switched on when it is unattended.
