1. Starting up

EWB 200 is a flicker-free electronic ballast unit. The 90 V to 265 V automatic
voltage selector allows the system to be used universally.
The unit is suited to operate with lamps with a hot restrike (HR), which means
that the fixture may be switched on again at any time while hot, making waiting
time unnecessary. For safety reasons, the high ignition voltages required for this
purpose must have a correct earth conductor, the function of which can be
checked with the aid of the earth monitoring lamp "earth ok". For this reason the
unit must always be connected to the power supply with an earthed mains plug.
The ballast unit EWB 200 can be used outdoors due to the incorporated drip
protection, with protected or sealed openings, watertight connecting sockets and
the robust design.
Connect the fixture to the ballast unit EWB 200 and this in turn to the earthed
mains (AC-line) supply. Switch on mains switch and check whether the earth
monitoring lamp LED (5) "earth ok" lights up yellow. If this is not the case, the
ballast unit must be immediately disconnected from the mains supply, for safety
reasons, and the earth conductor checked before continuing. When the red
display light "supply ok" is lit continuously, the ballast unit is operational. When
"supply ok" is blinking, it is not possible to switch on because a problem has
been detected (see chapter 4. LED display).
The ballast unit is started up by pressing the lamp button. The green LED (3)
(operating lamp) lights up.
The ballast unit is equipped with an automatic heat-up device, so that the
operating temperature is reached already after about 1 minute. In this period,
the unit should only be switched off if absolutely necessary, in order to prolong
the service life of the lamp.
The optimal colour temperature is reached after approx. 3 minutes of operation.
If the HMI/MSR lamp cannot be triggered, the ballast unit stops the trigger
process after about 1.5 s. A new attempt to trigger can be initiated by pressing
the lamp button again. After approx. 10 attempts in succession, the unit will
block the trigger circuit for 30 seconds. After that further attempts are possible.
Ensure that the ventilation slots are unobstructed during operation.
