position, for example move it back half a millimeter. In rare cases it may be required to
clean the A1200 main board. Never use contact spray for this task! The gold contacts of
the A1200 main board are best cleaned with a pencil eraser. Please avoid mechanical
cleaning methods like sanding paper or similar.
Software for the ACA1221ec
Please download the programs from our wiki site wiki.icomp.de to make use of the full
potential of the card, including power-saving functions, overclocking and using 1MByte
Kickstart ROM images. Some programs may not be available before Q1/2017.
A1200 board modifications
Some A1200 main boards have been assembled with the wrong parts at the factory.
Should you observe any instability of your computer or graphics corruption when moving
icons around on the workbench, you might need to remove up to four components from
your A1200 board: Parts E123C, E125C, E121C and E122C on the bottom side of your
A1200 main board. Although the ACA1221ec implements measures to handle these timing
differencies, we recommend to remove these four components for stable operation with
any accelerator (not just with our ACA12xx series). Please consult an expert/technician for
this job.
Serial/Warranty number
Your ACA1221 has an alphanumeric code. This code is your warranty proof. Even if
you're not the first owner of the card and if you don't have the original invoice any more,
we'll be able to tell if your accelerator is still under warranty. The code is resistant against
normal cleaning (such as dusting off), but you should not use any solvent. We'd like to
emphasize that your warranty is void if the code is not readable any more. For your
convenience, this code can also be displayed with the ACAname tool.
Jumper positions and further reading
The ACA1221ec has a tiny flash rom that takes care of making all memory available,
keeping the PCMCIA slot usable at all times and setting your desired CPU clock speed on
power-up. These settings can be altered using the flash/config tool for the ACA1221ec.
Before you can do any changes to the ACA1221ec flash rom, you need to set the jumper
to the "unprotect" position. In that setting, the card will start with only 1MByte of memory
and 17MHz clock speed, regardless of what you have configured in the flash rom. Think of
this jumper setting as your "safety setting" in case you've chosen a high overclocking rate.
