1.2. General Information
Features
The Behnke-Elektronik "additional IP door bell"
/ "PA system connection" contains the Behnke
SIP 2.0 basic electronics and can log on to a
SIP server (SIP telephone system/SIP provider)
like any Behnke SIP 2.0 door intercom station. It
then provides one of two functions as required:
1. Operation as additional SIP door bell:
The electronics are included in a group of exten-
sions or, depending on the SIP server, are set to
the same telephone number as a normal desk
telephone, which is to be called and which acti-
vates the concurrent ringing of the additional
door bell (this means that the additional SIP
alarm clock has the same access information
as the desktop device to be called). When the
assigned caller calls, the electronics emit a ring
signal via the internal loudspeaker. 9 different
standard ring signals are available. Optionally, a
flashing light can be activated as well to clearly
identify the ringing telephone even in extensive
and noisy surroundings.

An external active additional loudspeaker/PA
system (LF output / LF level, adjustable with
level control in the front panel (marked "PA
system level adjustment")) can be controlled via
the built-in LF output (Neutrik connector plug)
if the volume of the internal loudspeaker is not
sufficient (For 20-0040A-IP, the internal loud-
speaker can be deactivated in PA system mode
via the DIP switch on the SIP door intercom
station circuit board).
2. Operation as PA system connection /
announcement device:
The electronics are registered in the telephone
system as SIP callers and establish the connec-
tion to a PA system. Every telephone can then
be used to make announcements via the PA
system. The electronics can indicate a pending
announcement through a potential-free contact.
This means that the ELA system can be con-
trolled via a potential-free contact. A level con-
trol (front panel marked with "PA system level
adjustment") is used to adjust the level (power:
200 mV) to the existing PA system. In this
operating mode (PA system mode), the addi-
tional IP door bell/PA system connection can
also be used to make announcements through
the internal loudspeaker (power: 1.4 watts).
Caution: Note the power of the loudspeaker (for
20-0040A-IP, the internal loudspeaker can be
deactivated in PA system mode via a DIP switch
on the SIP door intercom station circuit board).
