types of grinding wheel damage is not readily visible. It is best to test for this damage by grasping the grinding wheel by its bore
and tap the wheel with a non-metallic tool, e.g. a screwdriver handle. An undamaged grinding wheel will give off a clear, metallic
sound when tapped. If the sound is fl at, the grinding wheel is damaged.
Use only the grinding wheels with the sizes specifi ed in the Technical Data table. Never modify any grinding wheel or the handle
of this chainsaw sharpener to attempt any customization.
Do not overtighten the wheel lock cap when mounting a grinding wheel in the sharpener. Tighten the wheel lock cap by hand. Do
not use any tools for this operation. Overtightening the wheel lock cap may result in failure of the grinding wheel.
Never operate the electric chainsaw sharpener without all grinding wheel covers / guards installed properly in place.
Before turning on and while operating the sharpener, stand clear of the plane of rotation of the grinding wheel. If the grinding wheel
fails and breaks apart, standing clear of that plane will reduce the risk of injury from fl ying debris.
Before grinding a chain, turn on the sharpener and leave it running idle for about 1 minute. If no symptoms of any malfunction, like
strong vibration or high noise become evident in the meantime, you can start operating the sharpener.
If the grinding wheel starts vibrating strongly while grinding a chain, immediately stop the operation, turn off the sharpener, wait
until the grinding wheel coasts to a stop and check that the wheel is properly mounted and undamaged.
Never strike a chain with the grinding wheel. This may cause the wheel to fail and break apart!
Never stop a spinning grinding wheel by hand, even if safety gloves are worn. The grinding wheel will easily cut the glove and
your hand, resulting in severe injury! Never stop a spinning grinding wheel with any object. When the sharpener is turned off , the
grinding wheel continues to rotate for some time. Wait until the wheel coasts to a stop.
Never cool down the grinding wheel or the chain being ground with water or other liquids. The electric chainsaw sharpener is not
sealed against ingress of liquids; any exposure of the sharpener to any liquid may result in electrocution!

USING THE TOOL

Warning! Before mounting or replacing a grinding wheel or adjusting and fi xing a chain in the sliding guide, make sure that the
sharpener is turned off and the power cord is unplugged from the mains.
Installing the tool
Before operating the sharpener, install the sliding guide on the sharpener base. Pass the sliding guide bolt through its opening
in the sharpener base to locate the angle gauge pin in the groove in the base (II) Next, secure the sliding guide by tightening the
base lock wheel (III).
The sharpener must be fastened to the edge of a bench top. Place the sharpener on the bench top so that the boss under the
base fi ts snugly to and along the bench top edge (IV). Now, fasten the sharpener to the bench top with bolts or screws. Pass the
fasteners of choice through the respective two openings in the base (VII).
This is the only installation method which assures an easy and safe operation of this tool. The chain length clear of the sliding
guide can hang loose and free over the bench top edge.
Warning! Do not operate the sharpener not fastened to a bench top!
Replacing the grinding wheel
Tilt the grinding wheel head up and over. Remove all screws which secure the grinding wheel cover (VI). Remove the wheel lock
cap (VII) and remove the grinding wheel. Clean the grinding wheel mount thoroughly before mounting a new grinding wheel.
Mount the grinding wheel by completing the grinding wheel removal procedure in the reverse order.
Grinding a chain
Before grinding a chain to sharpen it, clean the whole chain with a non-fl ammable cleaner. Next, leave the chain to dry completely.
Do not clean with petrol (gasoline), alcohol or other fl ammable products. The grinding process may produce sparks which can
ignite any residues of fl ammable products and result in a fi re. Consult the chain manufacturer for guidance on cleaning the chain
correctly.
Warning! Wear safety gloves, safety work garment and work boots while handling a chain. The chain features sharp-edged teeth
which can easily cause injury.
Loosen the sliding guide and place the chain in the sliding guide with the chain toothed links toward the grinding wheel (VIII).
Set the tooth angle as specifi ed for the chain. Do this by loosening the base lock wheel and rotate the sliding guide to show the
correct angle value on the sharpener base (IX). Tighten the base lock wheel to prevent the sliding guide from rotating while oper-
ating the sharpener. Check the base lock wheel tightness frequently while grinding a chain. The sharpener vibrates while grinding,
which may cause the base lock wheel to become loose.
Lower the chain stop over the chain. Now, slide the chain a bit so that one of the links stops against the chain stop (X). Make
sure that the tooth angle matches the sharpening angle set on the angle gauge. If it does not, slide the chain a bit more to the
next toothed link.
Lower the grinding wheel head and check that the wheel shims the chain tooth. Readjust the chain stop with its wheel (XI) if
needed. The position of the wheel is to be locked using the counter wheel.
When the head is lowered, tighten the sliding guide lock lever (XII) to prevent the chain from moving. The lever can be pulled
