Things to watch for

The appliance should only be connected by
a qualified fitter (see electrical connection).
Disconnect the appliance before starting
with cleaning or reparation. Preferably by
taking the plug out of the socket or by
turning off the mains switch.
Grease and oil are flammable when over-
heated. Stay near the cooker when
preparing dishes.
When cooking the hob becomes hot,
children should always be kept at a
distance.
Cords to electrical appliances - e.g.
a mixer - may accidentally touch the
cooking zones.
Never leave a pan of frying oil unattended
while heating, should it reach too high a
temperature it could self-ignite.
The zones must not be used without pans.
Never put aluminium foil directly on the
zone.
Do not place any inflammable or
deformable objects immediately under the
hob.
Clean immediately. Spills of foods or fruit
juices with a high sugar content, such as
plum juice or rhubarb, can impair the
colour of the enamel or stainless steel.
These should therefore be cleaned
immediately.
Moisture on the cooking elements can
cause rust.
Before using your hob
Switch on the hob
Before using your hob for the first time,
each element should be switched on to the
highest setting for 3-4 minutes, without a
pan.
The manufacturer has applied a layer of
rust-preventer to each element. When the
hob is heated for the first time a burning
smell will be noticeable. This is normal.

Appliance information

The heating elements are made of cast iron.
The heat is created by spiral filaments which
lie in the element in rings.
The heat is transmitted to the base of the pan
by direct conduction. Each element is fitted in
a stainless steel sealing rim.
When one or more plates are in use the
control light on the panel will go on.
