When the main subject is not in the center of the picture

Focus lock is useful in autofocus shooting when you want to
capture a subject that's framed outside of the autofocus frame
marks, and in situations where subjects may be difficult to focus
( p. 27).
Do not change the camera-to-subject distance
While the green LED lights up, the focus is locked. Do not change the
camera-to-subject distance.
26 Advanced Operations
Depending on the effect you want to achieve, your
subject may not be at the center of the final
composition in the left example. If your subject
is not at the center of the frame marks when the
shutter release button is pressed halfway, the
camera will focus on the background and the
main subject may not be in focus. Focus lock
allows you to adjust the composition after
focusing on your subject.
Center the autofocus
