OPERATION

NOTE! The boom length can be extended,
but doing so reduces the maximum weight it
can lift. The boom has the max. weight listed
beside each bolt hole.
1. Purge air from the hydraulic system
before � rst use. See Bleeding the
Hydraulic System in the Maintenance
section.
2. Position the lifting hook (#17) above the
load. The hook can be either attached to
the load directly if there is an appropriate
attachment point or a harness (chain or
otherwise) may be attached to the hook.
3. Ensure the load is balanced so it does not
shift or fall when being raised, lowered or
moved.
4. Turn the hydraulic cylinder's release-valve
clockwise to raise the boom.
5. Insert the handle (#19) into the hydraulic
cylinder (#18) and pump until there is
tension on the chain, but before the load
is lifted. Double check the lifting hook
or harness to ensure the connection is
correct.
6. Slowly pump the handle to raise the load
enough to clear any obstacles between
the lift point and the � nal destination.
7. Remove the handle and stow in the
bracket on the main post (#4).
8. Push/pull the engine hoist to the desired
destination. Move slowly to prevent the
load from swinging. Stop moving if the
load begins to swing and do not resume
until the load is still. Resume moving, but
at a slower pace.

9. Lower the boom arm by gradually
turning the hydraulic cylinder's release
valve counter clockwise. Pause lowering
and position the load before allowing it
to come to a rest.
10. Unhook the hoist from the load and
lower the boom completely to protect
the ram from corrosion.

MAINTENANCE

WARNING! Only an authorized service center
may repair the appliance. An improperly
repaired appliance may present a hazard to
the user and/or others.
- Maintain the appliance with care. An
appliance in good condition is effi cient,
easier to control and will have fewer
problems.
- Inspect the appliance components
periodically. Repair or replace damaged
or worn components. Only use original
replacement parts when servicing.
- Follow instructions for lubrication.
- Only use accessories intended for use
with this appliance.
Lubrication
Inspect and lubricate the tool when required.
Only use a light oil. Periodically lubricate all
moving parts.
