DISASSEMBLY
General Instructions
1. Do not disassemble the tool any further than neces-
sary to replace or repair damaged parts.
2. When grasping a tool or part in a vise, always use
leather–covered or copper–covered vise jaws to
protect the surface of the part and help prevent distor-
tion. This is particularly true of threaded members
and housings.
3. Do not remove any part which is a press fit in or on a
subassembly unless the removal of that part is neces-
sary for repairs or replacement.
4. Do not disassemble the tool unless you have a com-
plete set of new gaskets and O–rings for replacement.
Disassembly of the Tool

To remove the Muffler (23) (if fitted to the tool), un-
screw the Retainer (27). Remove the Upper Muffler
Clamp (24), Lower Muffler Clamp (25) and Bearing

2.
Use a screwdriver to remove the Retention Pin (20)
from the Handle. Be sure not to lose the Retention
Pin.
3.
Using a vise with copper–covered or leather–covered
jaws, secure the tool by the Barrel (21) with the
Handle facing up.
4.
Using Assembly Tool No. 6701581, slacken the
Handle as shown in Dwg.TPD1987. If the Assembly
Tool is not available, grip the Handle by the air inlet
ports and unscrew the Barrel from the Handle with a
wrench. See Dwg.TPD1988.

6.
To remove the Plastic Handle (2), use a drift to tap
out the Handle Retaining Bolt (3). Unscrew the
Plastic Handle in a clockwise direction from the han-
dle stump.

Remove the Cap (7) from the Trigger Pin (6).
Remove the Trigger Pin, Compression Spring (8),
Washer (9) and Lipped Seal (10) from the Handle.
