Operating instructions for Shearing Clippers
• Do not touch the clippers if they are in contact with liquids. Never shear animals that are wet.
Any ingress of liquids into the clippers will impair the electrical insulation. This creates a risk
of electric shock or short-circuits. Only clean the clippers dry with a brush and the cleaning
brush.
• A mains cord running across the floor for some distance can become entangled and pose a
hazard. Before shearing, lay the cord carefully and safely. Avoid kinking or entangling the
electric cord. Animals must not stand on, cross or snag the power cord. Never wind the power
cord around the clippers and keep it clear of hot surfaces and objects. The latter may sever the
cord and damage the insulation. Regularly check the cord for damage.
• Switch the clippers OFF (Pos. 0, Figure 2) before removing the plug.
• Use only original clipper blades. Do not use damaged clipper blades with blunt or missing or
broken teeth. Work only with sharp clipper blades, honed by a specialised workshop.
• Look out for foreign bodies in the coat (wire, wood or the like) and remove these before
shearing.
• Wear suitable work clothes. Do not wear wide, loose fitting clothes or jewellery. These may
become entangled in the moving clipper parts. It is strongly recommended to wear protective
glasses and earmuffs.
• Never push an object into any clipper aperture.
• The noise of the clippers may agitate some animals. A kick or the animal's body weight may
cause severe injury. Adequately secure the animal, approach it from the front and switch on the
clippers in its field of vision.
• Do not allow unauthorised persons access to where the animals are being sheared.
• Shear only in well ventilated areas (dust) and never in the vicinity of explosive objects or gases.
• Never submerge the shearing clippers/shearing head in liquids such as water, soapy water,
diesel, petrol, etc. This may lead to considerable damage to movement and the motor.
These safety instructions must always be heeded. It is recommended, when working with
electrical apparatus, to always use residual current protection for safety.

Clipper adjustment with shearing tension adjustment head (tension screw)

Adjust the clippers as follows before taking them into operation:
Before shearing:
With the machine switched off: Ensure that the cam cones/claws of the pressure forks are
accurately seated in the locating holes of the upper blade (Figure 3, Pos. 2). Screw in the clipping
tension adjustment head until first resistance is felt (Figure 3, Pos. 1). Then screw in the clipping
tension adjustment head by another ¼ turn.
Start operating the shearing clippers. Release the clipping tension adjustment head (Figure 7) until
the pressure on the clipper blades is virtually zero (noise level rises).
Caution! The upper blade may fly off if the clipping tension adjustment head is released too far,
with potential injury.
Now slowly screw the clipping tension adjustment head back in until the noise level becomes
subdued and a resistance is felt when tightening the clipping tension adjustment head further.
Release the clipping tension adjustment head by ¼ turn. The tension should now be correct. Start
shearing. If cutting is still not OK, re-adjust the shearing tension slightly.
