FUEL INFORMATION
The XGK stove can burn a variety of fuels, using two interchangeable Jets.
1.
The GK Jet is used for white gas, unleaded auto gas, and aviation gas. This Jet is pre-installed in your stove.
2.
The X Jet is for kerosene, jet fuel, and diesel. This Jet is included in the parts kit with your stove.
MSR recommends that you use MSR® White Gas. It is the highest quality fuel available for your stove.
Other white gas brands include Coleman®, Crown®, and CampLite®. The fuels chart below is a guide to
help you find white gas when traveling internationally. Any fuel other than white gas may lead to rapid
stove clogging, requiring more frequent jet and fuel line cleanings. Do not use leaded fuels.

INSERTING PUMP INTO FUEL BOTTLE
1. IMPORTANT! O-rings and Pump Seal are extremely critical for safe operation of your stove.
Before using your stove, ensure that O-rings and Pump Seal are present, in good condition, and
free of damage and wear.
2. Uncap the Fuel Bottle by turning the cap counterclockwise. Pull cap to remove. Fill with fuel.
IMPORTANT! Never fill beyond Fill Line that is marked on fuel bottle. See Illustration 1.
3. Screw the pump snugly into the Fuel Bottle.
4. Firmly close the pump Control Valve Handle (A).
5. Pump the Plunger (G) 15-20 strokes.
Note: If the Fuel Bottle is not full, more pump
strokes are required. For example, when
half-full, about 40-55 strokes are required. In general, pump until firm resistance is felt.
6. IMPORTANT! Always check for leaking fuel. Check for leaks near every seal, including the
Pump Seal, Fuel Tube O-ring, Control Valve area, and Pump Plunger. If leaking fuel is found, DO
NOT USE STOVE. See TROUBLESHOOTING or send it to your MSR retailer or MSR Product Service
Center for repairs.
ATTACHING THE XGK STOVE TO THE PUMP
1. Lubricate the end of the Fuel Line (Q) with saliva or oil.
2. Insert the Fuel Line into the pump. See Illustration 2.
3. Snap the Catch Arm (P) securely into the slot on the pump. See Illustration 3.
4. Insert the Lower and Upper Panwires (L) into the stove. See Illustration 4.
5. Place the stove onto the Heat Reflector. See illustration 5.
OPERATING THE XGK STOVE
PREHEATING THE STOVE
The stove must be preheated or "primed" in order to operate
properly. Insufficient preheating may result in flare-ups or poor
performance.
1. Open the Control Valve and allow approximately 1/4 oz.
(1 teaspoon) of fuel to flow through the jet.
2. Close the Control Valve.
3. IMPORTANT! Check for leaking fuel. Carefully evaluate the Fuel Bottle, Pump, and Fuel Line for
leaking fuel. If leaking fuel is found, DO NOT USE STOVE. See TROUBLESHOOTING.
4. If no leaking fuel is present, light the fuel in the Burner Cup (O). See Illustration 6.
5. Place the Windscreen around the stove only. Important! Ensure that the pump and fuel bottle are
outside of the windscreen. See Illustration 5. Fold the ends of the windscreen together.
