Strapping two X3000D amps (Master/Slave function)
To get incredible amounts of output power to drive subwoofers (i.e. for SPL competition) two X3000D amps can be
"strapped" together.
To make this easy, each MTX X3000D has a Master/Slave function. Minimum impedance that can be connected to
two X3000D amps when used in Master/Slave function is 2 Ohm (i.e. two 4 Ohm subs wired in parallel).
1. Decide which X3000D is the "Master" amp and which X3000D is the "Slave" amp.
Set the phase switch for the "Master" amp to Master (0 degree).
Set the phase switch for "Slave" amp to Slave (180 degree).
2. Connect the input signal coming from the Source unit to the RCA inputs of the "Master" amp.
3. Adjust the gain, x-over and subsonic filter settings on the "Master" amp. Phase switch is not used!
4. Take a mono RCA cable and connect this cable in the Master out of the "Master" amp. Lead this mono RCA cable
to the "Slave" amp and connect it to the Slave in of the "Slave" amp.
**Note: The "Slave" amp is NOT connected at the RCA inputs. The "Slave" amp receives its input signal only
through the Slave in connection. Gain, x-over, subsonic filter and EBC are not used on the "Slave" amp these will
be controlled by the "Master" amp.
5. Connect the minus speaker outputs of both amps together using a 8mm
2
ground wire.
6. The positive speaker outputs of the "Master" amp are the positive speaker outputs for the subwoofer(s).
7. The positive speaker outputs of the "Slave" amp are the negative(!) outputs for the subwoofer(s).
