Notes on secure use of the card reader with Secure PIN Entry
Secure operation of the KB100 SCR requires implementation of and constant compliance with the
following security measures:

The keyboard must only be used as a card terminal in non-public areas.

Before taking the keyboard into operation, check that no security-relevant modifications have
been made to the keyboard.

Only enter the PIN via the numerical keypad on the terminal.

Make sure that nobody watches you while you enter your PIN.

While entering your PIN, make sure that the PIN LED flashes red, as this indicates that the card
terminal is in Secure PIN Entry mode.

In order to ensure protection of personal identification data (PIN), only use processor cards
which satisfy the specifications of DIN ISO 7816 [2] and/or EMC 2000 [3].

Unpacking and checking for damage/completeness

We recommend that you keep the original packaging material. It may be required for transporting the
equipment at a later date.

Unpack all the individual parts.

Check the contents of the package for visible transport damage.

Check whether the delivery matches the details in the delivery note.
If the shipment does not correspond to the delivery note, please notify your local sales outlet
immediately.
