Open the upper unit.
Press the open/close button, and lift up the upper unit until it stops and
is held at that position.

Remove the jammed paper from inside the scanner.

To close the upper unit, push the upper unit inwards as far as
possible, and then release the upper unit.
When you release the upper unit, it slowly begins to fall down. Do not
apply unnecessary force to push the upper unit down. Doing so might
damage the scanner.
