ENG
• Do not use the ladder outside in adverse weather conditions, such as strong wind.
• Make sure that no children play with the ladder.
• Lock any doors (not emergency exits) and windows in the working area, if possible.
• Ladders should only be used for light work of short duration.
• Always turn to face the ladder when you are ascending or descending.
• Keep a firm grip on the ladder when ascending and descending.
• Never use the ladder as a bridge.
• Always wear appropriate footwear when climbing a ladder.
• Avoid placing a heavy lateral load on the ladder, for example, drilling into brick and
concrete.
• Do not spend long periods of time on the ladder without regular breaks (tiredness is a risk).
• If you are using a leaning ladder to access a higher height, you must extend it to at
least 1 metre above the landing point.
• Any equipment that you carry when using a ladder must be light and easy to handle.
• Avoid work that produces a lateral load on step ladders, e.g. drilling into hard
materials (such as brick or concrete).
• Keep a firm grip when working on a ladder, or take additional safety precautions if this
is not possible.
