Finding and fixing faults

Use this table to check if you can correct the fault yourself.
Problem
The compressor is

Possible cause
The socket has no power.
The mains plug has not been in-
serted properly.
The desired temperature has
been reached.
The temperature is set to a cool-
ing power that is too high.
The temperature is set to a cool-
ing power that is too low.
Door is not tightly closed or door
seal is not completely tight.
The refrigerator is near a heat
source.
The foods inside are warm and
have not been cooled.
The ambient temperature is too
low or too high.
Cooling unit is running (humming).
Refrigerant is flowing through the
pipes (flow noise).
Motor is switching on or off (click-
ing).
Other, non-operational noises.

Solution
Check the socket by connecting anoth-
er appliance.
Ensure the mains plug is securely
plugged in.
Further cooling not required. When the
inside temperature rises, the compres-
sor automatically switches on.
Set the temperature controller 2 further
towards 'MIN'.
Set the temperature controller 2 further
towards 'MAX'.
See chapter "Cleaning the door seal",
page 21.
Place an insulation plate between the
refrigerator and the heat source or
switch locations.
Only put cooled food in the refrigerator.
Adjust the ambient temperature to the
climate category (see chapter 'Techni-
cal data' at the back of this manual).
Operating noises are functional and are
not a sign of malfunction.
Check the fi rm position.
Remove objects from the refrigerator.
Remove any foreign bodies from the
rear and leave suffi cient clearance to
the wall.
