the IcY BoX Mediaserver desktop application
The ICY BOX Desktop Applications make it easy to access your ICY BOX Mediaserver, as well as backup
and synchronize your digital content from Windows and Mac PCs in your home to the ICY BOX Media-
server. They can be installed on either Windows or Macintosh computers through the Setup CD provided
with the ICY BOX Mediaserver. There is no limit to how many home computers they can be installed on.
Check the system requirements mentioned earlier in this document.
On Microsoft Windows, once installed, they are accessed through the Start Menu or by right-mouse
clicking the ICY BOX Mediaserver icon in the Windows System Tray.
Various ICY BOX Mediaserver features and capabilities are accessed through this menu on both Windows
and Mac computers.
Not logged in/logged in as...
The label at the top of the menu displays whether a user is currently logged into ICY BOX Mediaserver
and under what username, or it displays that no user is currently logged in.
Log in.../Log out...
The Log in... menu Allows the end user to log into a ICY BOX Mediaserver user account, save the cre-
dentials securely on the desktop computer so that they are not required next time. As well, the Log
out menu allows the user to log out of the currently active user account. Once logged into an account,
selecting the 'Explore My ICY BOX Mediaserver folders' or 'Open ICY BOX Mediaserver applications' menu
items will not require the user to log in again.
explore my IcY BoX Mediaserver folders
Opens the Windows Explorer or Mac Finder applications and allows the end user to access the ICY BOX
Mediaserver through a network drive on the computer. If the computer is located on the same network
as the ICY BOX Mediaserver, then this connection is established through SAMBA. If the computer is on a
remote network from the ICY BOX Mediaserver, then this connection is established through WebDAV.
If the user is already logged into the ICY BOX Mediaserver user account, through the Log in... menu
already described, then they will not be prompted to login. If the user is not already logged into a ICY
BOX Mediaserver account, then they will be prompted to login before they can access folders or content
the ICY BOX Mediaserver drive.
open IcY BoX Mediaserver application
Starts the computer's default web browser and open the easy-to-use ICY BOX Mediaserver web inter-
face, located on the ICY BOX Mediaserver itself.
If the user is already logged into a ICY BOX Mediaserver user account, through the Log in... menu alrea-
dy described, then they will not be prompted to login. If the user is not already logged into a ICY BOX
Mediaserver account, then they will be prompted to login before they can access this web interface.
