Instructions for use
Congratulations on your powerful new binoculars. Enjoy the experience
of undistorted image reproduction, the quality and effectiveness of
which reflect our high standards.
The Carl Zeiss brand is famous for outstanding optical achievements,
precision workmanship and long service life. Please observe the follow-
ing Instructions for use in order to obtain the best from your binoculars
and to ensure that they remain your constant companion for many years
to come.
Viewing with and without eyeglasses
If you do not wear glasses when viewing, use the binoculars with the eye-
cups extended (Fig. 1/A). To do this, turn the eyecups upwards to the top
click stop position by turning them to the left (counter clockwise).
If you wear glasses when viewing, unlock the eyecups by turning them to
the right (clockwise) – and turn the eyecups down as far as they will go
(Fig. 1/B).
Adjustment of the interpupillary distance
Adjust the two barrels relative to each other about the central axis until you
see one circular field of view when viewing with both eyes.
Focusing
The binoculars are equipped with a centre focusing mechanism (focusing
knob Fig. 1/C) and a dioptre adjustment wheel (Fig. 1/D).
To focus, close your right eye and focus the image in the left barrel using the
centre focusing mechanism (Fig. 1/C). Then close your left eye and – if
necessary – set the focus in the right barrel using the dioptre adjustment
wheel (Fig. 1/D).
The dioptre adjustment wheel (Fig. 1/D) has a click stop in the zero setting
(0 dioptre's).
Note:
Always use the same object to focus on both images!
For subsequent focusing on varying distances, use the focusing knob only
(Fig. 1/C).
Attaching the carrying strap and protective caps
The carrying strap and the protective caps are provided in the packaging.
As shown in Fig. 2 + 3, attach the carrying strap to the eyelets on the bin-
oculars and the protective cap to the carrying strap on the binoculars.
