Product description
The ED4100/50 is a compact condensate
drain with electronic level control used to
drain off non-aggressive oil-water conden-
sates from compressed air.
The condensate drain is equipped with a
floating contact for monitoring routine opera-
tion.
Power must be permanently supplied to the
ED4100/50 as an alarm is triggered in the
event of power failure.
A heater must be installed at ambient
temperatures below freezing. The heater
heats up the surface of the heating rod to a
temperature of approx. 30 °C above ambient
temperature. Operation of the heater is there-
fore permitted only at ambient temperatures
between -25 °C and 5 °C.
)
We recommend controlling the
heater with a room thermostat.
The heater can be ordered separately (see
table of accessories, Page 24).
You will find the component view of the
condensate drain on Page 51.

Function
The condensate enters the collecting cham-
ber (Fig. 17, Item 11) through the inlet (Fig.
1, 1a or 1b) where it collects. The conden-
sate collecting chamber is connected via
separate channel in the bottom section of
the housing to the condensate outlet. This
channel is controlled by a valve. The valve is
protected by an upstream dirt trap (Fig. 9).
The level sensor (Fig. 17, Item 2) in the con-
densate collecting chamber sends a signal
to the controller at a defined condensate
level. The controller briefly opens the valve
allowing the condensate to drain off. The
valve is opened at short intervals until the
condensate drops below the defined level.
The alarm is activated (Fig. 4, 4c, alarm LED
off) if the valve opens without interruption for
100 cycles and an alarm signal is sent. The
cleaning cycle starts at the same time.
The cleaning cycle uses short pressure
pulses in an attempt to blow out all deposits
that could block the valve seat and therefore
through flow.
After the cleaning cycle has started, the
valve opens three times for 5 seconds at
1-minute intervals.
The cleaning process is then concluded and
the alarm is deactivated. The condensate
drain now resumes normal operation.
