Maintenance
Remember that the band saw must be switched off and the cable unplugged from
the socket before any cleaning or maintenance work is carried out!
Ball bearings
The ball bearings on the blade guide and wheels are sealed and do not require
lubrication. However, check regularly their adjustment and function and replace them
if they are defective or worn.
Replacing gear oil
The gear oil should be replaced after the first 90 days of
operation and thereafter every six months.
1. Put the top section into the horizontal position.
2. Loosen the screws (A – fig. 17) on the gearbox and
remove the cover gasket.
3. Drain the oil from the gearbox into a suitable container.
Remember that used gear oil must be disposed of in
accordance with the applicable local guidelines.
4. Put the top part into the vertical position and remove the remaining oil with a cloth.
Lower the top-part into the horizontal position again.
5. Fill with approx. 0.3 l of gear oil.
6. Re-fit the gasket and re-place the cover plate.
Blade brush
It is important that the blade brush is adjusted correctly and kept in good condition.
Replace the brush if it is worn or damaged. A worn, defective or poorly adjusted brush
will significantly shorten the saw blade's lifetime.
Cleaning
1. Keep all surfaces clean and free of rust, shavings, dirt and deposits.
2. Never use compressed air as this will only press metal shavings into the bearings and
other critical area on the band saw.
3. Use a small brush to remove any metal particles.
4. Dry the saw using a clean, dry cloth and apply a thin layer of oil onto the non-coated
surfaces.
5. Keep the blade guides clean and free of metal shavings.
