Safety and Danger
Instructions
An exclamation mark in a triangle
points out important parts of the opera-
tion manual. Please read the whole
operation manual before use, it con-
tains important notes for a correct ope-
ration.
Any claims for warranty will become
invalid in the event of damage that
results from the non-observance of the
operation manual. We do not accept
responsibility for any indirect losses.
We do not accept responsibility for
damage to property or for personal
injuries caused by improper use or non-
observance of safety instructions. War-
ranties will not be accepted in any such
case!
The symbol of a flash in a triangle warns
against unprotected, live components or
elements in the interior of the housing.
Touching the components or elements
may be dangerous to life. Therefore, the
housing may only be opened by an
expert.
The
unauthorised
conversion
and/or
modification of the product is inadmissible
because of safety and approval reasons
(CE).
Do not expose the system to high tempe-
ratures, strong vibrations, high humidity or
heavy mechanical strain. It might be dama
ged.
The adapter of the system has been
designed in accordance with safety class
II.
The whole system has been approved for
an indoors operation only.
Do not place any containers like flower
pots on the system. Never spill any liquids
over the system. Do not put any small
objects, such as coins, paperclips etc. on
the system, they might fall into it. This
would cause a great risk of fire or dange
rous electric shock. Should liquid have
entered the system nevertheless, dis-
1
connect the system immediately (pull the
plug) and contact an expert.
24
When the system is switched to standby mode with
the ON/STANDBY button, the system is not discon-
nected from the power supply, it still consumes a lit-
tle standby energy. The system is completely dead
only when you have pulled the plug.
Make sure that all the electric connections between
the system and any extension leads have been exe-
cuted properly and in accordance with the opera-
tion manual.
A defective mains cable may only be replaced by an
expert. Danger of electric shock.
Keep electric devices out of reach of
children. Be especially careful when
children are present, they could try to put
objects into the system. They risk a dan-
gerous electric shock.
The mains cable must never be plugged
or unplugged with wet hands. Danger of
electric shock.
Never pull on the cable, but use the spe-
cial grip-surface of the plug for pulling it
from the socket.
Only a socket outlet with 230V/50 H
(10/16 A) may be used for power supply.
Never try to connect the system to a dif-
ferent voltage.
Do not leave the packaging materials littered; plas-
tic films/bags, polystyrene parts etc. can become
dangerous toys for children.
When installing the product, make sure that the
cables are neither kinked nor squashed.
Always pull the plug
- before you clean the system
- during thunderstorms
if you do not intend to use the system for a cer-
tain time.
Make sure that the system is sufficiently vented.
Never cover the ventilation openings.
This product is equipped with a laser unit class 1.
Never open the system; setting or maintenance
works may only be performed by a qualified expert
who is aware of the specific risks. An improper set-
ting can lead to dangerous laser radiation.
Caution: RESET restores the ex-factory
settings, any settings (apart from the
ADP setting) you have made in the
system previously will be lost.
Handling
Never turn on the device immediately after it has
been brought from a cold into a warm room. Con-
densation water that forms might destroy your
device.
Leave the device switched off and wait until it
has reached room temperature. Wait until the
condensation water has evaporated.
Avoid using the system under adverse environmen-
tal conditions. Adverse environmental conditions
are:
• excess humidity (> 90 % rel. humidity in air),
dampness, dust and inflammable gases, vapours,
solvents
• temperatures too high (> +45 °C) or too low (< +10
°C)
Do not listen to music over a longer
time at an excess volume, this could
impair
your
hearing.
Before
connect/disconnect the headphones,
always turn the volume to minimum to
avoid damage to your hearing.
Before using headphones, make sure
that the volume is turned to a minimum.
Increase the volume only slowly until it
reaches a pleasant level.
Remote Control
With the remote control you can operate the most
important functions of the system easily from where
you are sitting. The keys on the remote control are
mainly identical to those of the described keys on
the main unit. Please find a description of the
remote control keys under "Installation and Operat-
ing Elements". Hold the remote control with the
front end in the direction of the infrared reception
eye (18). The range of action of the remote control
is about 4m. The receptive angle of the infrared
reception eye (8) is about 30° in both directions.
Make sure that there are no persons or objects
obstructing the transmission.
Maintenance, Service &

Disposal

Maintenance & Service
Check the technical safety of the device regularly,
e.g. for any damage of the housing, the power cord
etc.
If there is room to believe that safe operation has
become impossible put the system out of operation
and secure it against any unintended operation.
Safe operation must be presumed to be no longer
possible, if
• the product exhibits visible damage
• the system does not function any more
• after the system was stored under unfavourable
conditions for a long period of time
• the product was exposed to extraordinary stress
caused by transport.
Before you clean or maintain the system, observe
the following safety instructions:
Pull the plug.
Maintenance and repair may only be
performed by a qualified expert who is
aware of the specific risks and the
you
applicable regulations.
The system is maintenance-free, therefore you
should never open it. Opening the system invali-
dates the warranty.
Clean the exterior of the system only with a soft, dry
cloth or brush. Never use aggressive cleansing
agents or solvents since this might damage the
housing surface or impair operation.

Tips for Handling CDs

• Only touch the CD at the edge to avoid finger-
prints and dirt on the surface.
• Only touch your CDs with clean hands.
• Should a CD get dirty nevertheless, wipe it with a
clean, fluff-free cloth from the middle to the
