h) Checking depth limit of the saw chain and re-filing
The saw chain alternatingly has cutting links and depth stops.
If the height distance of the depth limiter from the cutting link is too low, the cutting output is reduced.
If the height distance is too large, the cutting output is too high, which may overload the chain saw drive. It also
increases the risk of backstroke when sawing.
Usually, the height distance should be 0.65 mm. This can be inspected with a suitable gauge. If applicable, observe
the information of the saw chain manufacturer.
The depth limit of the saw chain can be filed off with a suitable file. When filing off, observe that the shape of the depth
limiter is restored again.
8. Replacing the grinding disc
Switch off the sharpener and disconnect it from the mains voltage, pull the mains plug from the mains
socket.
If the sharpener has been in operation before, wait until the grinding wheel has stopped completely.
• Loosen the three screws of the cover (5) and lift off the cover.
A
• Turn the holding ring counter-clockwise until it can be removed. Remember the alignment.
• Take off the grinding disc (B); it is only pushed on.
• Replace the grinding disc with a grinding disc of the same build that is intended for the saw chain grinders.
Never use unsuitable grinding discs!
• Push the holding ring (A) on in the correct orientation and tighten it by turning it clockwise to the right.
• Put on the cover removed at first and fasten it with the 3 screws.
