1. IMPORTANT NOTE

Congratulations! You are the owner of a carefully designed and manufactured equipment.
We thank you for trusting on us and choosing our amplifier SPM SIXTY E SERIES (Switching
Power Mosfet).
In order to obtain maximum operativity and perfect functioning order, it is most important to
carefully read all considerations taken into account in this manual before connecting this amplifier.
We recommend our authorised Technical Services if any maintenance task should be
needed so that optimum operation shall be achieved.

1.1. Precautions

The PAM 360E/560E/960E/1360E consumes a maximum power of 570VA / 830VA /
1250VA / 1790VA, we therefore recommend a mains wire not inferior to 1,5mm
breaker) superior to 10A/220VAC (data for one amplifier).
The amplifier should have an earth connection in good conditions (earth resistance,
Rg=30Ω or less).
The work area where the e quipment is set up should be dry and totally free from dust.
In case there is some type of intervention and/or connection-disconnection of the amplifier,
it is most important to previously disconnect the mains power supply.
Do not manipulate the output terminals to the loudspeakers when the amplifier is switched
on, there are voltages present of more than 400Vpp in the PAM 1360E.

2. INTRODUCTION

This equipment is designed for the necessities of an audio professional seeking a strong
and realiable power amplifier. With PAM series, ECLER has introduced a new concept into
professional audio: The Switching Power Mosfet.
This S.P.M. Technology has been developed and patented by ECLER, Laboratorio de
Electro-Acústica, S.A. Until today these components were only used in industrial switch
applications and now, their introduction into audio has brought a firm and spectacular improvement
in relation to the conventional systems.
The outstanding advantages of Switching Power Mosfet can be summed up as follows:
a) Much lower internal resistance than the bipolar transistors which results in inferior
warming in the power amplifier and in powerful bass and very well controlled.
The conventional audio mosfets present an internal resistance 4 to 7 times higher than the
resistance provided by switching mosfets.
b) The great speed of these devices confers, to the high frequencies, a transparency until
now only achieved with amplifiers containing vacuum-tubes, at the same time as a reduced TIM
(Transient Intermodulation Distortion).
In this SIXTY E series of SPM amplifiers, the essential has been maintained, obtaining as a
result an industrial line of acceptable price and demonstrated efficiency.
