CONTROLS AND PARTS
DCF RECEPTION
Attempts to receive the DCF signal for daily synchronisation are being made at 2
a.m. and 3 a.m. One successful reception per day is suffi cient to keep the deviation
to less then 1 second.
The DCF signal is encoded and transmitted via a DCF
transmitter in Mainfl ingen (near Frankfurt). Its range
is up to 1500 km and, under ideal reception condi-
tions, even up to 2000 km.
Among other things, the DCF signal includes the pre-
cise time (theoretical deviation of 1 second in a mil-
lion years!) and the date.
This means there is no need for manual setting of
summer and winter time.
If your watch does not display the correct time after delivery, the DCF receiver has
to be triggered manually.
Manual Reception Mode
-
Press the trigger (B) with a pointed object, for more than 3 seconds.
-
The hour and minute hands run to the 12 o'clock position.
-
If this does not happen, please proceed as described in „Hand Positioning".
-
If there is DCF reception, the seconds will start to run shortly after.
-
The hands automatically set themselves to the current time, after successful DCF
reception.
 
The recognition and interpretation of the DCF signal can take 2-5 minutes. Do
not move the watch, during this time. Do not use any buttons!
Bad reception can be caused, for example, by metalized insulated glass, rein-
forced concrete buildings, coated special wallpapers, proximity to electronic
devices, or installation in cellars.
If the hands are not set to the current time after 10 minutes, change the
clock's location for reception and restart the reception attempt, as described
above.
Positioning the hands
If the hours and minutes hands do not run exactly to the 12 o'clock position when
making a reception attempt, positioning must be performed manually.
-
Press the trigger (A) briefl y with a pointed object.
-
The Display shows „Po".
-
Press the trigger (A) again, the hands can then be set manually. If you press brief-
ly, the hands are moved stepwise. If you press a little longer, the hands begin to
run automatically, which you can interrupt by pressing (A) again.
-
When the hands reach the 12 o'clock position, press the button (B) for more than
3 seconds.
-
The watch starts an attempt to receive the DCF signal.
-
The watch automatically sets itself to the correct time, after successful recep-
tion.
