4 Installation
Caution: Prior to installation, read the technical data (Chapter 11) and the operating

and safety information (Chapter 3). After the product has been stored and transported at
temperatures below 0°C, it must be stored with the original packaging open for at least
24 hours before commissioning.
4.1 Parts supplied
Filter system and connecting fi tting packaging units are required in order to install a new
AquaQuell fi lter.
Prior to installation, remove the all the parts from the packaging and check that everything
is present:
1 x fi lter system
1 x set of fi ttings
2 x hoses (optional)
1 x water meter (optional)
1 x Manual
1 x carbonate hardness test
If part(s) are missing, please contact your local BRITA Offi ce.
4.2 Assembly of the Filter System
Note: The use of BRITA connecting fi ttings and hose sets is recommended.
• Remove the cover plate
• Undo connection between connecting fi tting
washers .

• Fit the water meter
• Fit hoses with gaskets to the water inlet and outlet of the connecting fi ttings and
water meter. Ensure that the O-rings on the inlet and outlet are seated correctly.
Note: The use of BRITA hose sets or hoses according to DVGW W543 is recommended.
Caution: The max. tightening torque at the connections must not exceed 15 Nm!

Only connections with fl at seals may be used. Conical seal shapes damage the fi lter
head connections and invalidate any guarantee claims. The fl ow direction indicated by the
arrows on the fi lter head must be observed. Ensure that the gaskets are seated correctly.
During assembly, comply with the installation dimensions (Chapter 11), bending radii of
the hoses and dimensions of the accessories (e.g. hose sets). Operate the system in a
vertical position only. Use the wall mounting (Chapter 12) to install the system in a vertical
position only.
5 Commissioning a New Filter
By-pass setting for fi lter systems
• Identify the local carbonate hardness in German hardness °dH (BRITA nomenclature
°KH) using the enclosed carbonate hardness test.
• Check the by-pass setting on the by-pass screw
Note: A 3 mm by-pass setting has been made in the factory and must be changed to suit
the local carbonate hardness and the application.
