Inserting/replacing the batteries
For operation, the IR-1000L requires an
alkaline 9V block battery of the type 006P or
similar types such as IEC6F22 or NEDA1604.
If the voltage of the inserted battery falls below
the required value, the LC display indicates
the low-battery symbol „Low Bat" (13). In this
case, replace the battery.
To replace the battery, proceed as follows:
• Open the battery compartment by unfolding
• Replace the battery by a new one of the
Do not let batteries lie around openly. There is the risk of
batteries being swallowed by children! Leaking or damaged
batteries might cause acid burns when getting into contact with
skin. Never try to recharge batteries. Do not throw batteries into
fire!

Environmental note!
The user is legally obliged (battery regulation) to return used batteries and
storage batteries (from round cell to lead storage batteries). Do not dispose of
used batteries via the household rubbish.
You can return used batteries and storage batteries free of charge to our
subsidiaries, to our central office in Hirschau as well as to special recycling
facilities of your town which are legally obliged to take back used batteries.

Function
IR thermometers measure the surface temperature of an object. The sensor of
the device analyzes the emitted and reflected heat radiation of the object
measured, and converts this information into a temperature value.
Temperature measurement
To measure temperatures, point the opening of the IR sensor (1) at the object
to be measured and press the key for temperature measuring (8). The LC
display indicates „SCAN" (11). Make sure that the measuring spot is not larger
than the object to be measured. The currently measured temperature value
(14) is indicated on the LC display. To locate the hottest spots of an object, point
the IR-1000L at a spot outside the desired area and scan this area with zigzag
movements by pressing and holding the key for temperature measuring (8) until
the hottest spot is detected.
After releasing the key for temperature measuring (8), the measured
temperature value (14) is indicated for approx. 10 seconds. During this time, the
display indicates „HOLD" (12). After approx. 10 seconds the IR thermometer
switches off automatically in order to save battery capacity. Select the desired
battery
indicating unit (°C/°F) by means of keys (4) and (5).
With the laser switched on, the laser beam indicates approximately the middle
of the measuring spot. This makes it easier to perform precise measurements.
To activate the laser, press the ON/OFF switch (6) with the device being
switched on. The LC display indicates the laser symbol (17). If now you press
the key for temperature measuring (8), the laser beam indicates approximately
the middle of the measuring spot. To deactivate the laser, press the ON/OFF
switch (6) again and the laser symbol (17) disappears.
For measuring in the dark, the background lighting can be activated and
deactivated by means of the key (7).
