3.1 Setting DMX address
adjust the DMX address with the first 9 DIP switches on the backside.
Switch 10 puts the Spooky into demo mode, it will then cycle through the 64
animations.

3.3 Q&A
Before contacting your dealer, please read the following frequently asked
questions, maybe we already have the clue to your problem.
Q: I have four Spookies, one is brighter than the others. Are the other
three damaged?
A: Most likely not. The brighter one may have a slightly higher power, as
described above, maybe 45mW instead of the usual 35mW. This is not an error
and cannot be changed. These are normal tolerances, possibly due to
different temperature coefficients of the laser cristals. A 150 mW laser,
for example, can have up to 200mW, depending on the ambient temperature.
Q: My Spooky won't work.
A:
•
Please check the interlock connector. For safety reasons the Spooky
won't work if interlock connection is open.
•
Please check, whether the DMX channels are the same on the DMX master
(console) and the Spooky.
•
Try changing the DMX polarity on the DMX connector or the console.
•
Try using a DMX terminator plug (a XLR connector with a 120 Ohm
resistance between pins 2 and 3).
If this doesn't help there may be a defect. Please send your Spooky back
for repair.
Q: The patterns flicker, especially in a bright environment.
A: The scanning units used in the Spooky have an excellent quality for
their price/performance ratio. Of course, they cannot compete with much
higher priced professional scanning systems. Essentially this means that
the scanning speed is lower. So it takes longer to complete the image, so
to the human eye the starting parts of the image have already fallen dark.
This effect is the stronger the higher the ambient brightness is.
