12 Calibration and measurement
Digital pH/ORP sensors with Memosens technology do not require calibration when connected for the
first time. Calibration is necessary only if the requirements for accuracy are particularly stringent or if
the sensor has been in storage for longer than six months.
• Prior to calibration and measurement, remove the transport protection cap from the sensor.
• Sensors stored in a dry area must be immersed in water for 24 hours prior to use. Otherwise, the
sensor signal will drift significantly.
• Without the transport protection cap, you must keep the sensor in a 3M KCl solution or in a pH buffer
solution.
• How often the sensor is calibrated depends on the operating conditions (contamination, chemical
load) and sensor aging.
• Calibrate the partial electrode for pH using two-point calibration with CPY20 high-quality buffer
solutions from Endress+Hauser (DAkkS-accredited). Single-point calibration is required for the partial
electrode for ORP.
• Observe the calibration instructions in the Operating Instructions for the transmitter/controller.
pH and ORP:

After calibration, the sensor is ready for measurement. Using a suitable transmitter, e.g CM42, you
can determine the rH value in addition to pH and ORP.
