HINT:
To feed unbalanced signals in a proper way, pin
3 of the XLR connectors must be tied to ground.
INPUT POTENTIOMETERS
By means of two independent gain pots for left
and right channel, input sensitivity can be set
individually. Input level may vary between +2 ...
+22 dBu for digital full scale.
LEVEL METER
The level meter consists of two 10 segment
LED display for both left and right channel.
Meter range is from -25 ... 0 dB whereas 0 dB
means full scale of the A/D converter.
Dynamic law of the meter corresponds to DIN
PPM (Peak Program Meter) specifications.
Risetime for full scale is 2 msec while the re-
lease time is 1.5 sec for -20 dB signal de-
crease.
THE A/D CONVERTER
The converter of the A/D part is as a standard a
48 kHz / 24 bit chip with a dynamic range of
110 dB.
Optionally in the moment a 96 kHz converter is
available, offering 24 bit and a dynamic range
of 115 dB.
The inside of the A/D part is quiet universal so it
may be updated with other converter chips in
the future.
LAKE PEOPLE will inform about updates on
their web-site www.lake-people.de!
THE DIGITAL OUTPUTS
The A/D part offers three digital outputs - balan-
ced, unbalanced and optical.
Independent from their design, data words -
professional or consumer - on all outputs are
identical.
The outputs are situated on the rear panel and
marked to their function.
- The balanced output is equipped with an
XLR type connector and corresponds to
AES 3-1992, transformer balanced, impe-
dance 110 ohms.
- The coaxial output is equipped with a cinch
connector and corresponds to IEC 958, un-
balanced, impedance 75 ohms.
HINT: The level on this output complies with
AES-id regulations (1 V
- The optical output is equipped with a TOS-
Link connector and corresponds to EIAJ RC-
5720.
THE DIGITAL OUTPUT FORMAT
The digital output format - professional or con-
sumer - is selectable with the "FORMAT"-switch
located on the front of the sync unit.
For more information about the channel status
bits see "BIT SETTING" on page 13 .
HINT:
In consumer mode the SCMS (serial copy ma-
nagement system) is handled as follows:
- Byte 0, Bit 2 = 1: copy permitted / copyright
not asserted
- Byte 1, Bit 7 = 1: original / pre-recorded data
THE D/A PART
THE DIGITAL INPUTS
The D/A part offers three digital inputs - balan-
ced, unbalanced and optical.
On all inputs professional or consumer coded
digital data with up to 24 audio bits and a sam-
ple rate of max. 108 kHz are accepted. The in-
puts are situated on the rear panel and marked
to their function.
- The balanced input is equipped with an XLR
type connector and corresponds to AES 3-
1992, transformer balanced, impedance 110
ohms.
