GENERAL INFORMATION

The BAL-AMP C 46 is a single-channel unit for
floating post-balancing of unbalanced or elc-
tronically balanced audio sources.
For a high performance audio transformer is
used, the specifications of the audio source to
be equipped will be affected only very slightly
and practically remain unchanged.
The very compact dimensions of the BAL-AMP
C 46 will in most cases allow easy installation.

POWER SUPPLY

The BAL-AMP C 46 has been designed for ba-
lanced supply voltages, which are available in
virtually any contemporary audio devices.
Supply voltages from +/-12 to +/-18 V will be
accepted. Of course, the modul`s maximum
achivable output level is tied to the available
voltage. The technical Specifications, described
later, are related to +/-15V supply voltage. The
module`s current consumption sums to a maxi-
mum of 30 mA and therefore appears as a neg-
liglible additional load to the equipped device`s
power supply.
GAIN
By means of the multiturn trimpots located on
the circuit board, amplification can be matched
exactly to your requirements. The maximum
gain of 14 dB is sufficient to boost a
output up to a +6 dBu studio level.
The XLR-type connectors used provide an own
carrier plate with M3-type threads for simple
mounting. If the device to be equipped shows
mounting holes different than required, thge sui-
table drilling pattern found in this manual will
make the necessary mechanical alterations ea-
sy.
In any case, the module should furthermore be
supported by using the mounting bolts included.
Otherwise, by the weight of the module itself,
the circuit board might suffer in case of frequent
shocks or vibration.
The signal and supply voltage connections are
made by a four terminal pin row. Make absolu-
tely sure that the voltages applied are in proper
polarity!
ERRORS IN POLARITY MAY RESULT IN
DESTRUCTION OF THE MODULE ITSELF
OR DAMAGE TO THE PRECEDING OR
SUBSEQUENT CIRCUITRY!!!
Try several possibilities of grounding the pin
marked as "GND", in order to achieve optimum
signal quality with a minimum hum. To further-
more help solving hum problems, a ground lift
jumper is provided on the circuit board, situated
next to the XLR-connector. Try several possibi-
lities to avoid or minimize hum problems.
