Step 2) Tapping the keg
Place a 5-litre party keg in front of you on the ground or on a solid surface.
We recommend you carry out this step in a collecting container, as it may
cause a discharge of beer, depending on the valve on the keg.
To tap the keg, first check the valve at the top of the keg. There are a variety
of valves, but the Beer Buddy is compatible with almost all of them. For more
details, see 'Valves'.
If it is a turn-on type of valve closure, take the valve-closure handle and turn
it clockwise. Then pull the closure up out of the keg. Instructions for this are
printed on every keg.
If it is a simple valve closure with just a stopper in the middle, you can leave
it until you tap the keg.
Warning:
The keg may be pressurised. To prevent beer flowing out of the keg when
opening the valve, we recommend cooling the keg, and leaving it to rest for
at least 5 minutes before carrying out this step.
Now pick up the dispenser Turn the moun-
ting bracket so that it is parallel to you,
90°
with the pressure regulator pointing away
from you. (At right-angles to the mounting
bracket).
Now guide the tapper into the opening of
the valve located at the top of the keg.
Important:
Push the tapper into the keg until it stops. Push against the mounting bra-
cket with your hands to exert pressure.
